A sensational disclosure of Mel B’s secret marriage

Former spice girl Melanie Brown, who recently has embroiled in a paternity battle with comic actor Eddie Murphy over her newborn daughter, has secretly tied knot with her producer boyfriend Stephen Belafonte in a secret ceremony in Las Vegas.

In a sensational disclosure, it came into light that Melanie Brown, also known as "Scary Spice" or Mel B, is married since two months.

Mel B’s spokeswoman confirmed today that the couple held their nuptials at the Special Memory Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas in June, a month after the reports of their dating surfaced. It was a low-key ceremony as the couple wanted to make it private commitment to each other, she said.

The ceremony was so simple that it cost just $59 and Mel didn't even wear a wedding dress for the occasion. "Regarding the marriage, Mel and Stephen have known each other for many years and were great friends first. Now they are deeply in love. The two are very happy together," the publicist said.

The pop singer also confirmed her wedding with lover Belafonte, saying "Stephen and I have known each other for seven years. We wanted to make a commitment.”

The secretly married couple now intends to make their nuptials public, and planning a lavish, star-studded celebrations later this year. "We wanted it to be private and have a big wedding with our families later in the year," Mel B said.

The 32 years old former spice girl was engaged in a clash with Hollywood actor Eddie Murphy over paternity. In order to establish Murphy as the father of her four months old daughter, Angel Iris, Mel filed paternity suit earlier this month in Los Angeles Superior Court.

The actor initially refused to make any comment about his identity being established as the father of Spice Girl Melanie Brown’s baby daughter, but eventually admitted to the fact. His publicist Arnold Robinson also made the statement acknowledging paternity to Access Hollywood, an entertainment news channel.

This is the second marriage for Mel B, who first tied the knot with Dutch dancer Jimmy Gulzar in 1998 at a lavish ceremony in Buckinghamshire. The pair, however, divorced after two years. They have a nine-year-old daughter, Phoenix Chi.

Mel B recently has agreed to reunite with the British pop group, the “Spice Girls” and is waiting for her world tour with the group due in December.

Hollywood producer Belafonte's recent film credits include “Sisters” and “Thank You for Smoking”, both released in year 2006.
