Harry Potter is headed for another adventure. This time around, he will face off against ogres and pirates and, in what might be his toughest adversary so far, a dysfunctional American family. No, author Rowling is not dishing out another of her terrific fantasies, though the storyline might be too tempting to resist. This time around, he will face off against ogres and pirates and, in what might be his toughest adversary so far, a dysfunctional American family. No, author Rowling is not dishing out another of her terrific fantasies, though the storyline might be too tempting to resist. This time around, Potter is off to the first ever Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards. The wizard boy of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series seems to be doing a good job of changing everything about him to gold. After the super success of the seventh and final Harry Potter book – Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, it is the turn of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, the fifth Potter movie, to bask in the limelight. The awards are scheduled for October 20 at the ExCeL Arena in London, and will be hosted by McFly. The awards require fans to vote for their favorites among the nominees. Voting lines are currently open and are set to close on September 30, 2007. Fans can log in to www.nick.co.uk/#/specials/kca. They can also vote through their TV boxes, by making use of the interactive features. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix has received four nominations -Best Movie Actor, Best Movie Actress, Best Book, and Best Movie. The competition is stiff in all the categories, and Harry Potter and his crowd are up against some formidable foes. In the Best Movie segment, the movie is pitted against three other monster fantasy movies: Pirates of the Caribbean – At World’s End, Shrek the Third, and The Simpsons Movie. In the Best Movie Actor segment, Daniel Radcliffe, who plays Harry Potter, will be up against seasoned veteran Johnny Depp and his co-star Orlando Bloom (Pirates of the Caribbean) and British comedy star Rowan Atkinson. In the Best Movie Actress segment, Emma Watson, portraying Harry's friend Hermione Granger, will face off against industry veteran Cameron Diaz, as well as Dakota Fanning, and Kiera Knightley. Author J.K. Rowling finds herself nominated for Best Book for her final Potter offering – Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. The other nominees in the fray include Fall Out Boy, McFly, Sugababes, and Girls Aloud for Best Band; Gwen Stefani, Avril Lavigne, Cheryl Cole, and Hillary Duff for Best Female Singer; and Justin Timberlake for Best Male Singer and his What Goes Around video for the MTV Hits Best Music Video. |
