Actress Lindsay Lohan, who has recently landed herself in hot soup for driving under the influence of intoxicants and possessing a narcotic, denied taking drugs on Wednesday, a day after her arrest in California for drink-driving and cocaine possession.

The American actress and pop music singer, Lohan was arrested in the early hours on Tuesday (July 24) morning in Santa Monica, California. The police arrested Lindsay for driving under the influence and cocaine possession.

The arrest came about after a woman called 911 claiming Lindsay was chasing her in her SUV. The 911 caller later turned out to be the mother of Lindsay's former personal assistant, who had quit hours before the incident.

The assistant’s mother, who herself was in a black Cadillac Escalade, initially was not aware the Denali SUV chasing her was of Lindsay. In her complaint, she said she got scared, had no idea what was happening, and called the police as a safety measure.

After receiving the call at 1:34 a.m. PT, the police officers arrived on the scene and found Lindsay allegedly followed the black Cadillac Escalade into the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium parking lot. When police arrived at the scene, the two women were arguing furiously, Police spokeswoman Calisse Lindsey informed.

The police officers then pulled over Lohan and searched her. They first administered a field sobriety test in order to determine the actress was driving under influence. Lohan's blood alcohol level was higher than the permissible limit. It was between 0.12 and 0.13, well above California's legal limit of 0.08.

After finding a white powdery substance in Lohan's possession which was later determined to be cocaine, the officers arrested her on four counts. Of these, two charges were misdemeanors – driving under the influence and on a suspended license and the other two were felonies – possession and transportation of a narcotic.

The troubled "Mean Girls" star said the small amount of cocaine found in her pants pocket does not belong to her. In an e-mail to "Access Hollywood" host Billy Bush that was posted on the entertainment show's Web site, she wrote, "I am innocent ... did not do drugs they're not mine."

The incident came just days after the 21-year-old star had completed an alcohol treatment program following her arrest in May on similar charges. Lindsay reportedly had shown tremendous improvement during her rehab. After moving to outpatient care, she had agreed to wear a SCRAM bracelet on her ankle (which was supposed to be proof she was taking her rehab seriously!). She had also agreed to daily testing to ensure she stayed sober.

This is not the first time Lohan was charged for DUI instead the actress has a history of alcohol-related incidents. In May, she was sued by a photographer Giovanni Arnold who alleged the actress was driving the car that struck and injured him in New York in March.

Lohan had crashed her 2005 Mercedes SL-65 on Sunset Boulevard, Los Angeles in the early hours on May 26th, when she was driving home in her luxury car, along with two other people, after partying at Los Angeles nightclub Les Deux with friends. At the time, police officers confirmed they found a "useable amount” of a drug tentatively identified as cocaine at the accident scene.

The latest incident is her second brush with the law in less than a month. She had earlier been linked to a hit-and-run incident on Memorial Day. She was charged with two misdemeanor charges in that case – driving under the influence and hit and run.

Lohan was booked and later was released from the Santa Monica jail Tuesday (July 24) morning after posting $25,000 bail. She is due to report back in the Beverly Hills Courthouse on August 24, where she will face charges stemming from the incident occurred on May 25.

Born on July 2, 1986 in the Bronx and grew up in Merrick and Cold Spring Harbor on Long Island in New York, Lohan stepped in the entertainment industry very early in life, and came into limelight with her breakout role as a leading actress in 2004's “Mean Girls”.

Lohan, who is also portrayed as a "party girl", displaced Eva Longoria as the hottest woman on Maxim magazine's latest Hot 100 list.

OK... Why do the starlets get off?

I still dont get why Paris wasnt forces to finish her sentence in jail.
Lindsey will never even see the inside of the jail for these charges.
I wouldnt care if she continued to do these things in the privacy of her home but why take it into the streets and endanger not only yourself but your fans?
Worst way to react to someone quitting on you is chasing them while you are drunk and doing coke.
I am sorry i think the book should be thrown at her, us "regular" people would be in jail for a LONG time and when we came out we would not be rewarded with movies or jobs, no we would be suffering and struggling to get a job at some low paying place that is usually for highschool kids on summer break. I am the same age as her and find this all so stupid. She needs to be told WTF is up and given a good kick in the Arse. We shouldnt coddle them because they are stars, they should be treated worse because they are the role models for these other children who love them and try to be like them. Look at the 12 year old girls going to school with more makeup and skin showing than the street walker people pay for because the way these women are portraying themselves.
I am sick of these girls getting put into the media, let all ignore them and then see what they do!
Sorry girls I think you make women look bad and really wish you were never given the gift of stardom that you have. To many stars out there than can handle it just fine, why cant you? Dont use the broken family excuse, mine is to and I am just fine and working for the government.
Act you age ladies and be the role models you should be not the floozies you have shown us you prefer to be.
Sincerely
Randi

I've been caught with pot

I've been caught with pot before, but the "It's not my pot, I'm innocent" line didn't work for me, so I don't think the "It's not my coke" line would work either. And then to be caught drunk driving at the same time? That's just dumb; doesn't she have a personal limo driver?

Her Drug use is criminality? Convicted felon?

Can't people see the world is in the midst of chaos, close to "crashing". we have even been in reccesion since 2002.

I think the prohibition charges against her have nothing to do with the crimes she committed of hit and run. drugs are a choice, and so is drinking, but when you choose to drive a vehicle and drive off from the scene of an accident......that is sort of rediculous. We are in a prohibition to this day beleive it or not. The "government" (our own taxes) say that drugs are a crime. well, in the 1940's people were going to jail for years just by making homebrew that we can buy at the store now adays. so yes, she should go to rehab, she can't control her drinking, and might not be able to control her cocaine use, but that does NOT mean she is a criminal. she has made some mistakes and if this really is AMERICA we should give her another chance. Conform to drugs. i am 19, on probation, and statistically speaking the 1980's and the 1990's were the most violent decades in teenage MANKIND history. EVER. with the newer legislations there are harsher punishments on violent crimes. it's under control people. How good is good enough? why does the government have to create a Black market now? murders aren't getting caught, sex offenders have a better chance of getting a job than a person with a theft or drug crime, and Judges, lawyers and officers are of more guilt by trying to create a war on DRUGS, (they use themselves) than trying to do what is right. cocaine should not be a felony. the only felony she has commited is hit and run, now lets look at the future for her to not do it again. give her a break, she is not going to just wake up the first day she is 18 and just become a mentally stable lady. for the mental aspects of the average human to become mentally stable he/she must first be mentally unstable. Trial and Error, not trial and scare people. conform to reality. love ya lindsay, even though we are in wacky ending times. my final thought is that, ok, she hit someone, and drove off. that is a misdemeanor..........having some powder that gets you feeling good and can have bad side effects........makes her a convicted felon. what a way to %$#^ some ones fresh life up. thanks.

Addiction is a medical problem with legal collatoral damage.

She has the "party gene" aka addiction. Addicts invairiably get worse not better and their ability to be honest degrades as the addiction progresses. I'm sure she would like to believe, and have others believe, that there was a plausable explanation for cocaine in her pocket after being in an argument at 2 in the morning 2 weeks after getting out of rehab.
Though addiction is a medical issue, addicts harm and often kill people (especially behind the wheel). Sadly, they usually don't get better until the consequences of their action reach a point that breaks through their denial.
I was spared the worst part of addiction, finding help 15 years ago. I don't say this out of pride. I'm saying it to show that there is hope.
Lindsay has the same trouble I had. But she has the three strikes of fame, cash, and youth against her. I hope she makes it.
