Prince`s organise concert as a tribute to Dianaby Keerat - June 16, 2007 - 1 comments
Prince William and Prince Harry are organising a charity concert in memory of their mother, Princess Diana, in order to wipe away all negative feelings that the public may hold for the former princess of Wales. The two young princes are hoping to remind people of “what an amazing person she was” by holding the concert on July 1st in London. In an interview with BBC, Prince William, 24, said that the ‘Concert for Diana’ will help remind people of the good she did in her lifetime. He said,“After ten years there's been a rumbling of people bringing up the bad and over time people seem to forget – or have forgotten – all the amazing things she did and what an amazing person she was.” The second in line to the throne also added “We felt that this was the best way of bringing that back to life and letting people remember all the good things about her because she's not here to defend herself when she gets criticised and so we want to do that instead...” The concert is to be held in Wembley stadium on July 1st, on what would have been Diana`s forty-sixth birthday. It would include performances by Diana`s favorite performers including Elton John, Duran Duran, Rod Stewart and Tom Jones. According to her sons, it would be the kind of thing that Diana would have adored since she enjoyed listening and dancing to pop music. Harry, 22, said “She was a happy, fun, bubbly person who cared for so many people. It's the perfect opportunity and to celebrate her life with a concert with music and people just smiling and having fun, hopefully which is what they're going to be doing, waving their arms in the air... like they just don't care!” The recent spate of criticisms against Diana made the second and third heir to the throne take the decision of holding a concert in memory of their mother. They have also asked Channel 4 to remove certain controversial images of the crash in which she was killed from a TV documentary. In particular, the princes asked Channel 4 to remove several photos of the damaged vehicle with Diana still inside and of a medic treating her. “The memories that we've got of her, we're very lucky to have because they're private between us. That's the nicest thing about it, as you see her get slated for such and such, but the personal memories that we have of her are very much private and that's where hopefully it'll always be” said Prince Harry. Members of the British Royal Household are reportedly upset about the all-night VIP party that is supposed to take place after the memorial concert. Diana died in a car crash in Paris, along with her companion Dodi Fayed and chauffeur Henri Paul on August 31st, 1997. An inquest into the circumstances leading to her death is to be held in Britain later this year. With Inputs from United Press International. |

The best tribute song I have ever heard, was Elton John's revised version of "Candle In the Wind," but to all of the musicians playing at the tribute, good luck and I am sure it will be a very memorable and proud day for the Prince William and Prince Harry.
My favorite performer will be Rodger Hodgeson, of Supertramp, as he was co-writer for a band that wrote songs for people that Diana stood up for!! The common man/woman!
So "Give A Little Bit of Your Love" everyone, and remember, as Rodger's old friend from Supertramp wrote, "...You Gotta Bloody Right To Say...!"
And I hope Elton recreates his original tribute song, which although it brings tears to my eyes, is one of the greatest tribute songs I have ever heard.
Good luck everyone.. I wish Ray Davies and The Kinks could be there, so in their absence, I will say God Save The Kinks!!!!
