Report: Heart attack killed Bob Woolmerby MT Bureau - June 3, 2007 - 0 comments
Kingston, Jamaica -- The coach of the Pakistani national cricket team reportedly died of a heart attack in Jamaica and apparently was not murdered as originally suspected. Sources told Britain's Sky News a third analysis of the autopsy performed on the body of Bob Woolmer concluded the cause of death was natural causes. Woolmer's death during the World Cup in March was at first considered a homicide, which led to an intensive investigation in which the entire Pakistani team was held for questioning. There were suspicions match-fixing might be involved and that Woolmer was strangled in his hotel room shortly after a loss that knocked Pakistan out of the tournament. Sky said Saturday that Woolmer, 58, had not been in the best of health and was a heavy drinker. Copyright 2007 by United Press International. |
