Lindsay Lohan booked after car crash

Lindsay Lohan, an American actress and pop music singer, has landed herself in hot soup for driving under the influence of intoxicants.

The actress and pop music singer, Lohan crashed her 2005 Mercedes SL-65 on Sunset Boulevard, Los Angeles in the early hours on Saturday morning, when she was driving home in her luxury car, along with two other people, after partying at Los Angeles nightclub Les Deux with friends.

According to Sgt. Mike Foxen of the Beverly Hills Sheriff's Department, a witness called about 5:30 a.m., and after reaching at the scene the police found no one involved in the one-vehicle crash of the black Mercedes convertible.

The "Mean Girls" star had apparently been speeding before losing control of her car and crashing into a bush, said Mitch McCann of the Los Angeles Police Department.

Police officers confirmed they found a "useable amount” of a drug tentatively identified as cocaine at the accident scene.

Lohan, who got minor chest injuries in the crash and her two passengers were driven in another car not involved in the crash to Century City Hospital for treatment. Police tracked the injured star to the hospital, and there placed her under arrest. She was allowed to continue to receive treatment at the hospital.

Lohan was not taken into custody because she was admitted to the hospital, police said. "She was cited and released because she has been admitted to a local hospital for minor injuries," Foxen said.

Although, McCann declined to comment on Lohan's blood-alcohol level, but said the case will be presented to the District Attorney's Office where Lohan could be slapped with more charges, including felonies.

This is not the first time Lohan was charged for DUI instead the actress has a history of alcohol-related incidents. Earlier this month, Lohan was sued by a photographer Giovanni Arnold who alleged Lohan was driving the car that struck and injured him in New York in March.

In the lawsuit, filed in New York State Supreme Court, the photographer said the defendants (Lohan and her mother Dina Lohan) were "negligent, careless and reckless" with the vehicle, causing him personal injury and economic loss.

Born on July 2, 1986 in the Bronx and grew up in Merrick and Cold Spring Harbor on Long Island in New York, Lohan came into limelight with her breakout role as a leading actress in 2004's “Mean Girls”.

Lohan’s three car accident’s in 2005 made headlines. That year Lohan collided with a minivan when she made a U-turn as the van, carrying paparazzi, followed her from a Los Angeles restaurant for a photograph.

Later, in October, 2005, Lohan and a passenger received minor injuries when her convertible hit a van in West Hollywood. However the police ruled that the van's driver, who also received minor injuries, was at fault, by making an illegal U-turn.

The teen queen spent about two days in a hospital in Miami, Florida, after suffering a serious asthma attack in January 2006. While shooting for ‘Georgia Rule’ in July 2006, Lohan complained for dehydration and was rushed to the hospital. In January 2007, Lohan had an operation to remove her appendix.

The New York Fashion week party at the Milk Studios in September 2006 also brought ill luck to Lindsay, who injured herself while partying with friends.

Lohan stepped in the entertainment industry very early in life. She started as a child fashion model for magazine ads and television commercials. When she was 10, she began her acting career in a soap opera. However, her career mounted when she played a double role in Disney's 1998 remake of the 'Parent Trap'.

The 20-year-old actress recently announced that she had checked into rehab for alcohol abuse in January. Lohan publicist Leslie Sloane Zelnik confirmed in December that the pop singer was attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.

Lohan’s arrest follows the arrest of Paris Hilton, the heiress to the Hilton hotel fortune and the daughter of real estate magnate Rick Hilton, with whom the actress has been partying hard.

The jail-bound 26-year-old high profile celebrity blonde is due to report to the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, California on June 5.

Is it Time?

Is it time, yet, that we do something about this? 4 car wrecks in 3 years... More than one incidence of DUI... Alcohol rehab and the girl isn't even of legal age?

She should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law; as well as her parents, and whoever is responsible for supplying her alcohol.

Someone has to stop this irrational behavior coming from these people before innocent lives are lost!

Hammer down

I'm glad America's high profile and gluttonous appetite to "feel" better often gets publicity
by those our society celebrates. I can only hope that the severest penalties are also delegated to these, in the hope of not only saving many lives, but also in teaching that responsibility and living should be confronted and dealt with by any other legitimate means. If a few lives are ruined through their own lack of care, maybe others will get the message
