Argentina wins World Team championship

Dusseldorf, Germany -- Jose Acasuso and Agustin Calleri won a tiebreaker Saturday to lead Argentina past the Czech Republic to the World Team Championship title.

The best-of-three series was tied at one match each after the singles play, leaving the doubles to decide the championship.

Acasuso and Calleri went against the Czech tandem of Tomas Berdych and Martin Damm, dropping the first set 2-6. The Argentines won the final four games to take the second set 6-4. That set up the first-to-10 match tiebreaker, which the Argentine twosome won 10-4.

The Czechs won the four-nation Blue Group in round-robin play with a perfect 3-0 record.

In Saturday's final, Berdych posted a 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) victory over Juan Ignacio Chela. But Calleri then beat Jan Hajek 6-3, 6-1.

Argentina won for the third time, having also won in 1980 and 2002.
