Witness amused jury with Spector affairby Anshul Sood - May 15, 2007 - 0 comments
Waitress Kathy Sullivan testified Phil Spector murder trial case in a live testimony on Court TV at Los Angeles Superior Court and amused the jury with an episode in which she pictured Spector as the cartoon character Elmer Fudd. Spector is accused of murdering actress Lana Clarkson but Sullivan described him as a fatherly figure. The 7th day of trial at Los Angeles Superior Court in Los Angeles, California under Judge Larry Paul Fidler took place on 14th May 2007 where Kathy Sullivan, a waitress in Dan Tana's restaurant agreed with defense attorney Roger Rosen's descriptions of Spector as "mannerly and paternalistic." Harvey Phillip Spector, 67, is accused of shooting actress Lana Clarkson, 40, through the mouth on 03 February 2003 early morning in his mansion. Spector who is presently free on $1-million bail, on the other hand claims that Lana committed suicide. Adriano DeSouza, Spector’s Brazilian born chauffeur, told his story to police and a grand jury that he heard a gunshot in the pre-dawn hours on the day of the murder with Spector emerging from his home holding a gun and declaring, "I think I killed somebody." Four other women have since testified that Spector threatened them with guns too. Sullivan mentioned that Spector visited the restaurant in which she worked very often. Sullivan and another waitress, Susan developed friendly relations with him and took pizza and wine to his Alhambra mansion, and spent the night there in separate rooms in 1997 or 1998. At the time of their departure next morning Spector escorted them till out of his mansion carrying a rifle or shotgun. On questioning as to why Spector was carrying the gun, he said “ For protection”. Kathy said she “thought it was silly” for him to walk them out with a gun that was bigger than him but also mentioned that he never pointed it towards them. The waitress touched the humour nerves of the jury by saying that she thought Phil looked like the cartoon character Bugs Bunny nemesis Elmer Fudd when she first saw him descending his stairs with the gun while wearing a plaid. She said "it was the funniest picture in the whole wide world" but felt glad to have left the place. Sullivan said that the three of them Spector, Clarkson and she met a night before the murder when Clarkson was working as a hostess at the entrance to a VIP room at the House of Blues and Spector kept ordering drinks one after the other as they moved to a series of restaurants. Former House of Blues general manager Aric Berghammer testified that Spector did not seem to have any problems walking out with Clarkson that night as shown by the security videos. Spector, the American musician songwriter and record producer walked into the courtroom with his 26-year-old wife, Rachelle, his 24-year-old daughter, Nicole, and three bodyguards. Actress Lana Clarkson was famous for her notable performance in the movie Barbarian Queen. |
