Paris Hilton's fans make efforts to win freedom for her

After failing to win the favor of the Superior Court judge Michael Sauer, who imposed 45-day sentence on Paris Hilton, the distressed jail-bound heiress has now urged fans to join her in a desperate plea to California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, and sign a petition to keep her out of jail.

" title="Paris Hilton's fans make efforts to win freedom for her"/>

After failing to win the favor of the Superior Court judge Michael Sauer, who imposed 45-day sentence on Paris Hilton, the distressed jail-bound heiress has now urged fans to join her in a desperate plea to California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, and sign a petition to keep her out of jail.

Judge Sauer sentenced Paris Hilton, the heiress to the Hilton hotel fortune and the daughter of real estate magnate Rick Hilton, to 45 days in jail for violating her probation in a reckless driving case. In his judgment, the judge ruled that the blonde socialite knowingly drove her blue Bentley Continental GTC with a suspended license when she was stopped by Los Angeles County deputies on February 27 for speeding and driving without headlights on.

Testifying in her own defense at the time of hearing four days back, Hilton said she was unaware her license had been suspended. "I'm very sorry and from now on I'm going to pay complete attention to everything. I'm sorry and I did not do it on purpose at all," she told the judge before he imposed the sentence.

But, Judge Sauer rejected Hilton's defence that she didn't realize her license was suspended and ordered the blonde socialite to report to the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, California on June 5.

Shocked Hilton is now looking up at California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to pardon her. In a blog posted on her homepage at social networking website MySpace.com on Tuesday, the 26-year-old high profile celebrity heiress urges her 170,919 "friends" to sign a petition being organized by a supporter calling for the socialite to be spared jail time.

"My friend Joshua started this petition, please help and sihn it. i LOVE YOU ALL!!!!!," Hilton said in a message above a link to the petition. Apparently, desperately looking for her freedom, Hilton misspelled the word "sign" and disregarded grammar.

The petition reads: "She (Paris Whitney Hilton) provides hope for young people all over the US and the world. She provides beauty and excitement to (most of) our otherwise mundane lives. We, the American public who support Paris, are shocked, dismayed and appalled by how Paris has been the person to be used as an example that Drunk Driving is wrong...”

"This petition is to ask Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to pardon Paris Hilton for her mistake. Please allow her to her return to her career and life."

Kyle Vincent, a 27-year-old artist who described himself as a longtime Hilton fan and believes her story that she was unaware her license had been suspended when she was caught driving without headlights on thinks 45 days in jail is a cruel punishment for the caliber of what Hilton has done.

Vincent has launched a FreeParis.org Web site and is attempting to collect one million signatures on a petition seeking clemency by June 5, the date the hotel heiress is ordered to report to jail.

Hilton's publicist, Elliot Mintz, whom she blamed in court last week for getting her into the mess, but later rehired him, said the petition drive "appears to be legitimate."

However, legal experts say Paris has little chance of escaping jail term. One experienced attorney who specializes in driving under the influence (DUI) cases said: "Her chances of winning an appeal are little to none. The prosecutors had a slam dunk case. The evidence was overwhelming that she repeatedly violated her probation."

Hollywood actor-turned-politician Schwarzenegger's press secretary, Aaron McLear, said the governor had received no formal request to consider a pardon. It would be premature for the governor to insert himself in this battle until the individual has exhausted their judicial remedies, he added.

Even not all of Hilton's MySpace friends are supportive. One post with an embedded link reads, "VOTE if you think Paris Hilton should go to jail!!"

The life of Paris Hilton, labeled as “Party Girl” has been in media spotlight ever since she entered the entertainment industry and has been subjected to criticism for her hard-partying lifestyle by almost everyone.

She is best known for starring in a fish-out-of-water reality show called, "The Simple Life" with a fellow heiress Nicole Richie, daughter of singer Lionel Richie. In November 2003, Hilton came in the headlines when a home video of her cavorting with her then-boyfriend Rick Solomon was published online.

Please Govenor

It would be such a huge message to not only the state of California but the entire country that pardoning this young lady would be a such a severe mistake. We all make choices everyday. Doesn't matter who we are or how much money we make, we all have to obey the laws of the land. Miss Hilton has not even a clue what it is like to make a living, know what it is like in the real world. All she seem's to know is party, party, spend, spend, pose, pose, make stupid sex tapes, and she is an embarrassment to our country.

I'm so sorry Paris!!!

I am so sorry it is not 345 days! 45 isn't near enough. What are you going to do without
a mirror to pose in front of? Oh no! What will you do? Too bad they won't let you take your ugly dog with you so you have something to wipe your ass with! Or better yet...scrub the floors with poochie. Have fun! Wish it was much longer!

Let her show her good will...

This is a test in statesmanship for Arnold. We'll see if he will betray his voters. We will see if he aspires to be a statesman or a politician.
For Ms. Hilton: I suggest she shows her repentance by "donating" an amount commensurate to her wealth to a charity first and then as for people's forgiveness. To begin with, $10 Million sounds like a good starting point.

Let Her Off!!!

Come on people. Celebrities are above the law and should not be subject to the same punishments that common folk like you and I would be subjet to. I mean really, she said "I'm very sorry and from now on I'm going to pay complete attention to everything. I'm sorry and I did not do it on purpose at all,". After all "I didn't know" is a perfectly sound legal defense. Isn't it? In fact I think the arresting officer, prosecuting attorney, and judge should all issue her a public apology for interfering with her career. Doesn't that sound reasonable to everyone?

Ms. Hilton

About time something is being done to pop her bottom. Mrs. Mom, (not to be mistaken with good mother) and she should both share the same cell. I now under stand what is meant when someone is called a "bimbo".

New Realit Show

I think everybody is missing the obvious here. Paris can serve her time AND still provide us with her beauty and excitement for our mundane lives. We come up with a new reality show, something like “Paris gets slammed in the slammer”. Mount multiple cameras in her jail cell, exercise yard, shower etc. and have a nightly show. Who knows, we might even rehabilitate some of the other inmates so they can have new carriers as reality TV stars when they get out. Any networks out there listening. Top ratings guaranteed. I’m willing to sell the idea real cheap!

It's a long time for not

It's a long time for not actually hurting anyone. I am surprised by the amount of negativity on here. It is true she broke the law, but throwing her in jail isn't teaching anyone anything (obviously, read the posts above).

The judge wanted to be famous. 45 days is just too long of a time to spend locked up when you haven't hurt anyone.

What Career?!?

What career? since when is being a slut a career? I feel sorry for this whole family. This little sleeze has taken a really good name and flushed it down the toilet. Suck it up, do the time and LEARN SOMETHING. Money does not give you the right to do what ever you want. The law is the law and if it had been anyone else they would have been taken to jail right from the courthouse, what the heck is this "report to the jail on June 5th" crap!!! since when do you get 30 days to screw around and have fun before you do your time? My God!! it is really pathetic!!

She did the crime. Now she

She did the crime. Now she needs to do the time. She's completely irrelevant to me, except to say that she's 26 years old! Time to grow up, show some character, and take responsibility for her actions. Her parents did NOT do a good job raising her! Now she's society's problem, I guess. Lucky us. gag me. I wish the 'media' would stop paying so much attention to her.

poor little paris gets 45 days of time out and now she's sniveling like some wronged brat...it's time these uber rich social sluts get some real punishments...she will buy her way into the country clubs of lock downs with benefits many of us would love to have on the outside, and she expects us to feel sorry for her...her parents should have to do some hard time to boot for raising and then defending such trash...

I think this case is a normal every day case. Who cares if she has to go to jail. There really isn't a reason why she shouldn't she is a repeated offender. And get this a rich one, how stupid is that. All that money she has a the tip of her fingers, and couldn't call her limo? That truly is hot!

Rob's picture
Don't even think about it, Arnie!

We should make her work at McDonald's for 45 days after she gets out of jail, wearing a shock-collar so she can't leave and her honest, hard-working coworkers get to spit on her
every time she makes a mistake, says something rude or degrading or "can't remember."

What a joke!

Once again, a celeb thinking they're above the law. What a joke! She belongs in jail for longer than 45 days. I'm surprised she's not looking at this as another way to get exposure. Literal exposure because everyone in the prison is going to get to see her taking her daily constitutional.

Paris' Stupidity

I just have to say that I agree with most of you on here!! I already can't stand Paris anyway, and now for her to think she will get off with no punishment just because of who she is....whatever. She is how old? 24/25? She doesn't even read her own mail!! She needs to grow up and start taking responsiblity for her own actions instead of blaming them on others.

Travis's picture
Go directly to jail, do not pass go, do not collect $200.

I'm so tired of the celebrity class thinking, or in fact being, above the law. Money should not buy your way out of punishment. Not that Paris has the mental capacity to learn, but even if she did she would never learn her lesson by using her position, power and money to get out of doing her jail time. Have a big ol' slice of humble pie and take it like anyone else would, Paris.

And from the petition, "Please allow her to her return to her career and life." Haha... what exactly is her career again? Being famous for being rich and snobby on TV, partying with Britney Spears and having your sex tape all over the internet isn't a career. It might be an exciting life to lead, but rather than being fascinated with her life, how about you losers who think she's your "friend" because you're on Myspace log off, go outside, and create some excitement of your own?

Why try and save someone who in real life wouldn't give you the time of day?

Why Should She Be Allowed To Commit A Crime?

Why should she get off without facing the legal punishment that you or I would face if we did the same thing? Paris is nobody, and the law should apply equally to EVERYONE, rich or poor, famous or not. I have NO sympathy for her. She broke the law while driving a car that cost more than most of us will ever make in our entire lifetime. She should do her jail time just like anyone else.

Some justice at last

She needs to understand that all of her money can not protect her from the consequences of her own incredible stupidity. She is part of our society, not above it, and must obey the laws. 45 days is too lenient.

Paris Hilton

Typical irresponsible media glorifying an immoral moron. A terrible example of making heros out of idiots and morons.
These days the media is more concerned with readership and glorifying these idiots than setting an example of higher moral standards. That goes for the rest of the Hollywood and music performers and groupies.

About time!!!

These Hollywood types that think that their fame equals a get out of jail for free card makes me sick. Someone that could afford a cab or heck, even a limo ride home from partying and yet drives their expensive car around with the headlights off at night deserves every bit of punishment they get.

Being a Princess, you should not have to ever be punished! You have people for that!

Paris Hilton must die

Hey, I have an idea. Why don't we euthanize the airhead so no one has to be bothered by any further reference to the slatternly socialite? Or perhaps we could turn her over to Revlon for future product testing. America's fascination with Hilton is confirmation that our society is on a slow, painful slide into Hell. Enjoy the ride.

Sandra's picture
This is a woman who

This is a woman who blatantly ignores the law and thinks of herself as the centre of the world. 45 days in jail is something she deserves. It will set a horrible example for everyone if we pardon someone just because she has the money to make noise in the media. I feel bad for her because she obviously doesn't even have the appropriate kind of support and guidance she should have from a normal functioning family. The way her mother reacted to the judge is despicable. It is the perfect example of how power and money can corrupt a human being.

Freeman's picture
Paris Hilton is the perfect

Paris Hilton is the perfect example for the punishment. More than not knowing that she couldn't drive, i think it was plain disregard for the law. She perceived that being a celebrity she would maximum get a fine and be let off. Law should be same for all.

Go to jail you skank. When you arrive at the County Jail, Rosemary the female guard will have her rubber gloves on to give you the cornhole. It won't hurt too much. Then you get to take a cold shower and fitted for your orange overalls. You will be locked up with another inmate who is probably a druggie or a prostitute. When they see you, they will want to make you squeal like a pig. Do your time, who knows maybe you will like women after this.
