Apple Inc. has another reason to rejoice. The company on Monday announced the sale of its 100 Millionth iPod, marking another first in the arena of Digital Music.

This includes five series of iPod, two series of iPod nano, two series of iPod mini and two generations of iPod shuffle. The first iPod introduced in November 2001 had a storage capacity of 5GB initially, which over the years, has developed and grown to proffer a tremendous capacity of 80GB. The enhancement and addition of more features in the iPod was a proof of its continuous market demand. iPod was proved to be a ground-breaking product in the music industry, music lovers all over the world cannot imagine how life would have been without iPod and its products. The iPod combination with the iTunes7 features the world’s largest music catalogue with more than five million songs, 400 movies and 350 television shows. This makes the iTunes store, the biggest and most popular online music store ever. Apart from the different models and versions of iPod, Apple has also generated a large collection of iPod accessories, which have been specially designed for the iPod, these accessories include wide variety of products ranging from iPod cases to speaker systems. According to a recent financial report, Apple has reported that the major chunk of its total revenue which is $7.1billion came from the sales of iPod, which approximately comes up to $3.4 billion out of $7.1 billion. Apple Inc. has been a pioneer in personal computers and has always been a market leader with its innovation and technological advancement. Apple continues to capture the market by its progression and introduction of new and improved, above all, revolutionary products. Apple is leading the music industry with its iPod music players, and has several plans to step into diversifying fields of telecommunications. Apple has also announced the launch of its new product, iPhone, which is expected to hit the market somewhere in June 2007. |
