After spending nearly a month in rehabilitation centre pop singer Britney Spears has reportedly left the luxurious facility, apparently after completing the treatment at the third attempt. Before this, she entered the clinic twice but left just after 24 hours.

"Britney Spears has been released by the Promises Malibu Treatment Centre after successfully completing their program," the pop star's manager, Larry Rudolph, said in a statement.

Britney, who was kept from the media glare for the first time in her career, requested media for the privacy. "We ask that the media respects her privacy as well as those of her family and friends at this time," Rudolph said.

The 25 years old troubled pop star checked into the Promises treatment center in Malibu, California, on 22 February after shocking fans and prompting fears over her mental health by wildly shaving-off her locks at Esther's Haircutting Studio in the Tarzana district of Los Angeles.

Her bout of bizarre behavior also include tiny lips tattooed on her wrist and crazily attacking a photographer's car with an umbrella when her ex-husband Kevin Federline refused to open the door and let her into his house. The photos of the incidents were instantly beamed worldwide.

Reports surfaced earlier this month that Spear’s erratic behavior is due to her addiction to alcohol and drugs. To baffle her addiction, Britney checked herself into a rehab centre in the Caribbean but she left after just one day. Her erratic public behaviour coincided with an escalating divorce battle and focus on her stalled career.

During her stay at the Promises Clinic, the “Oops!” girl tried to take her own life by hanging herself. According to a UK tabloid, the falling pop star tried to hang herself with a bedsheet after an erratic behavior, and after the suicide attempt asked Kevin on phone to father another child with her.

The American pop singer, dancer, actress, author and songwriter, who had been the driving force behind the return of teen pop in the late '90s, had later terrified staff by writing the devil's number "666" on her bald head and then running around the rehab centre screaming, "I am the anti-christ!"

But her stay at Promises, which was shorter than most, has helped the pop star get a grip on her life and she is now set to take on the world again after battling her substance-abuse demons, clinic counselors claim.

The usual stay at Promises, a celebrity facility nestled in the mountains overlooking the Pacific Ocean, is about 45 days, while the minimum stay for most centers is 30 days, Promises founder Richard Rogg has said.

This luxury rehab centre offers a tough-love philosophy that requires patients to perform menial chores in a highly pampered setting.

Spears, born Britney Jean Spears in McComb, Mississippi, began performing as a singer and dancer at a young age. She is best known for her studio albums, music videos, and songs such as "...Baby One More Time", "Oops!...I Did It Again" and "Toxic".

Spears ranks as the eighth best-selling female artist in American music history. She emerged at the forefront of the pop music scene in late 1998, thanks to her chart-topping debut album, ‘...Baby One More Time’, which was crafted by producer-songwriter Max Martin.

Britney Spears has always been provided interesting fodder for media wags, ranging from her kiss with Madonna at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards to posing nude for the August 2006 cover of Harper's Bazar. She was photographed without panties while hitting the nightclub circuit.

The life-size sculpture of a naked and very pregnant Britney Spears kneeling on a bearskin rug as she gives birth has also attracted considerable media attention.

Spears filed for divorce from second husband Kevin Federline in November after two years of marriage and two children, Jayden James, six months, and Sean Preston, 18 months.

Kevin was spotted several times visiting Spears in Clinic and most of the times taking their two adorable sons to see their mother in rehab.
