Immaculate play of Cricket by India
A flawless performance of cricket was given by the Indian players in their league match against Bermuda yesterday. They played perfect cricket, the exact opposite of what they did against Bangladesh. India made a record total of 413 runs ever made in a world cup match and wrapped Bermuda when they were able to add just 156 runs to their kitty.
It was a day for the Indian players. India made a mammoth score of 413/5. Excluding the opener Robin Uthappa rest of the players displayed the batting with panache. Uthappa flashed the ball to slip for Dwayne Leverock.
Virender Sehwag as usual started his innings badly, slashing and missing outside the off-stump. But soon he settled down and began hitting the ball with his mighty blows over the offside with the same lack of footwork that has been his problem in the recent times.
On one side Sehwag was roaring with his bat and on the contrary Ganguly was playing very calmly. When Sehwag was dismissed for 114 in just 87 balls with the help of 17 fours and 3 sixes, India was 205 for 2 in below 30 overs. Soon after Ganguly too fell stumped after coming down. He made 89.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni came and started off responsibly with his innings but his stay on the crease was cut short when a brilliant catch by Janeiro Tucker at long off sent him packing at 29. But what had gone by was just a calm before the storm. Yuvraj Singh and Sachin Tendulkar together hit some exceptionally mighty sixes, through which the crowd was on their feet for the duration of their association.
Yuvraj made a thumping 83 runs for just 43 deliveries with the help of huge seven sixes. Rahul Dravid who pushed him down the order finished the innings in a style with a massive six.
Bermuda never had any chance of chasing 414, yet India’s aim was not a simple victory rather, they needed to win by at least 243 runs, the margin Sri Lanka beat Bermuda by. And they easily achieved it.
Zaheer Khan provided the opening blow to Bermuda in the very first over and after that Bermuda’s innings were bundled at 156.
Sehwag was crowned as the Man of the Match.
Now India have to definitely beat Sri Lanka in their last league match to make a place in the last eight teams otherwise they too will be sent packing from West Indies.
