Nayar, Hurley arrive in India for star-studded wedding

Elizabeth Hurley & Arun Nayar got married in a private ceremony on March 2, in Sudeley Castle, Gloucestershire. The famed couple landed in Mumbai on March 4 amidst tight security and a huge mob of reporters. The wedding, earlier scheduled for March 3, was held one day earlier to ward off the media. Only the guests were informed about the change. The star-studded guest list included Donatella Versace, Sir Elton John, and Ella MacPherson.

The couple is in India for another lavish wedding ceremony at the Umaid Bhavan Palace hotel in Jodhpur. The wedding, a typical Rajasthani one, is scheduled for March 8. The celebrations will start from March 7 and will continue until the 10th. The couple is going to be the guests of the royal family and will stay along with first family of Jodhpur in their personal quarters.

While wedding celebrations will start from Wednesday, partying in Mumbai has already begun. A series of parties were held in Mumbai, starting from Monday itself. On Tuesday, March 6, the famous socialite, Parmeshwar Godrej, organized a Haldi ceremony for Hurley.

The high profile guests would stay in the hotel section of the palace in Jodhpur and have been requested to be attired in traditional Indian wear. Designers Tarun Tahiliani and Rohit Bal have been chosen for the occasion. Nayar will don a Rohit Bal ensemble.

The couple has sold exclusive media coverage rights to Hello! Magazine for around 2 million pounds.

Arun Nayar is the chairperson, co-founder, and CEO of Direction Software Solutions. Born in England, he has been brought up in both India and U.K. He has been very active in relief efforts for HIV positive and AIDS affected children in Africa. Nayar has received his education from the noted Oxford University and the Imperial College in London.

Hurley, an erstwhile model, started her modeling career in late 80s, after she won a “Face of the Year’ award in a local newspaper in England. She started her acting career also in the late 80s with the television movie “Christabel”. She has appeared in various television series both in U.K. & in USA.

Hurley has had previous romantic entanglements as well. She had a long relationship with the famous Hollywood actor Hugh Grant, which lasted for about 14 years. After the relationship ended, the two have maintained congenial equations. Hurley also has a child with the American film producer Stephen Bing. Grant is one of the Godfathers for Hurley’s child. Hurley & Grant also started a joint production company, Simian Films, which was later dissolved in 2006.
