Bobby Brown in Trouble Again
Erstwhile Grammy award winner Bobby Brown has been arrested yet again. This arrest has not come as a surprise, history suggests. Brown was arrested in Massachusetts on Sunday, February 25. He was attending his daughter’s cheerleading competition in Attleboro High School, when the arrest was made.
The Norfolk Probate and Family Court sentenced him to a month’s jail over $19,000 fine in lieu of unpaid child support. The 38-year old owed over two-month payment to Kim Ward, his ex-wife. Brown has two teenage children- La Princia & Bobby Lii- with Ward, who now lives in Stoughton.
Brown currently lives in Atlanta, and is held in a Norfolk County jail for his offence.
The R&B singer has been entangled in legal hassles previously as well. In June 2004, Brown was awarded 90 days in prison as he had failed to make due payments in lieu of child support three months in a row. He had paid a fine of $15,000 for the same. Brown again paid $11,000 in delinquent child support, in October 2006.
Currently, Brown is in the middle of a divorce with famous artist, Whitney Houston. Brown & Houston have a 13-year-old daughter together, Bobbi Kristina Houston Brown. In 2003 he was charged with breaking the domestic violence law in the USA against Whitney Houston.
Brown’s legal representative, Phaedra Parks, a lawyer from Atlanta, has expressed doubt on the possibility of Brown being released before Tuesday morning. Parks says that her team is working diligently to arrange for the money.
In a statement to the Associated Press, Parks says that, "Although this agreement was put in place when he was Bobby Brown the star, this agreement is being enforced when he is not always able to find work.”
Brown started his career in collaboration with the group, The Edition. Eventually, he went solo and made a series of hits.
Brown’s life has been a roller coaster ride, wounding his public image due to his numerous arrests. In 1995, Brown was in prison after a scuffle in a Disney World nightclub. A few months later, he kicked a security guard in Los Angeles and was charged with assault.
Brown’s life has been a regular fodder for tabloids as the singer has checked in several times to a rehab to battle drug and alcohol problems. He has also been accused of spousal abuse and arrested for sexual assault in 1997 and 1998 respectively.
