" title="After behaving bizzarely, "Oops" girl checks into rehab" /> After the wild weekend that included shaving her head and getting a new tattoo the American pop singer, Britney Spears on Monday night entered rehab, apparently trying to coming out of her "out of control" lifestyle. Spears' manager, Larry Rudolph, told People magazine's Web site that the 25-year-old pop star had voluntarily checked herself into an undisclosed treatment facility. However, he declined to say what the singer would be treated for or where the clinic was. "We ask that the media respect her privacy as well as those of her family and friends at this time," Rudolph was cited as saying. But, an entertainment website TMZ.com said the singer had checked into the Promises treatment centre in Malibu, and reportedly Spears entered it after being pressed to do so by her family. Last week, it was claimed that “Oops!” girl recently had entered Eric Clapton’s Crossroads rehabilitation Centre in the Caribbean island of Antigua and checked out a day later. The mother of two young children, 5-month-old Jayden James and 17-month-old Sean Preston, had shocked fans and prompted fears over her health by shaving off her own hair last Friday. Late in the evening on that day, the star visited Esther's Haircutting Studio in the Tarzana district of Los Angeles and asked the hairdresser to shave her head bald. But, when the hairdresser refused to do so Britney grabbed the hair clipper and wildly lopped-off her locks. The newly-shorn star then reached at Body & Soul Tattoo in Sherman Oaks to add two tattoo designs to her body. The tattoo store employee Emily Wynne-Hughes said Britney, who, according to him appeared "distraught and disturbed" got a black-white-and-pink cross tattooed on her lower hip and red-and-pink lips on her wrist, and paid $80 for the designs. Britney, however, later had hidden her shaven head beneath a cheap-looking platinum blonde bobbed wig. Britney, born Britney Jean Spears in McComb, Mississippi, began performing as a singer and dancer at a young age. She is best known for her studio albums, music videos, and songs such as "...Baby One More Time", "Oops!...I Did It Again" and "Toxic". She has always been interesting fodder for media wags, which included her kiss with Madonna at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards, posing nude for the August 2006 cover of Harper's Bazar, wearing skimpy outfits and partying heavily as well. Her semi-nude pictures in the magazine 'Esquire' in November 2003 became a hot topic of discussion. The 2004 'Onyx Hotel Tour' brought new criticism, as her indecent performance outraged the audiences. Currently the singer in working on her fifth studio album which is due for release in 2007. Britney, who split from her second husband Kevin Federline in November after two years of marriage, has been seen partying hard with Paris Hilton, and her appearance has been increasingly sloppy. She has also been pictured climbing out of cabs without wearing underwear while out partying with socialite Hilton. Spears, whose first husband was Jason Alexander to whom she was married for 55 hours, also criticized for her carelessness. Several photos published showed Spears driving her sport utility vehicle (SUV) in Malibu, California with her 4-month-old son Sean Preston perched on her lap rather than strapped into a car seat in the back seat, and another time almost dropping him. Meanwhile, Federline is said to be worried about Spears. "Kevin is concerned for Britney and his children," People quoted a friend saying. "Of course he's concerned about her. He loves her. He's always loved her - even after she started divorce proceedings." Following terms of a January custody agreement, the departed pair would continue to share custody of their two kids. |
