Former heavy weight champion and semi-retired boxer Mike Tyson has landed himself in a kettle of fish for driving under the influence and possession of cocaine. The famed Phoenix resident was arrested in Scottsdale Arizona when he was going back from a club called 'Sugar Daddy’s.'

Sgt. Larry Hall informed that Tyson was under the influence of cocaine and while going back home from the club at about 1:45 a.m., he hit a sheriff’s car. The boxer was consequently stopped and given a sobriety check.

"He showed signs of impairment, and voluntarily submitted to field sobriety tests," said Hall, a member of the Buckeye Police Department who was working in the area as part of a holiday DUI task force.

Hall said Tyson was placed under arrest after "showing more signs of impairment" during the field sobriety tests.

After thorough investigations and failure in the sobriety test, Tyson was arrested and taken to the Maricopa County Jail. The officers on duty also found three bags of cocaine in Tyson’s car.

Hall informed that Tyson was alone in the car when he left the nightclub and will remain in Maricopa County jail on the DUI and possession of a controlled substance charges until his initial court appearance, probably some time later Friday.

Michael Gerard Tyson, born on June 30, 1966, in Brooklyn, New York, had a troubled and unpleasant childhood. He was constantly in mess with the police for niggling crimes and thuggery.

On May 6, 1985, Tyson embarked on the journey of his career and fought his first fight in Albany, New York with Hector Mercedes. He won the match and since then, there was no looking back.

He fought regularly in his first two years as an expert, staying insurmountable and winning his first 19 fights by knockout, 14 of which came in the first round. He soon came into limelight and attracted much media attention, leading to his being labeled as the ‘next great heavyweight champion’.

Gradually, the superiority of his opposition improved and his first nationwide televised bout took place on February 16, 1986 at Houston Field House in Troy, New York against journeyman heavyweight Jesse Ferguson.

His implausible hand alacrity, precision, coordination, and tremendously powerful hits and timing, sky rocketed his career. His fans had a lot of expectations from him and he embarked on a determined crusade to clash against all the top heavyweights in the world.

Although his career was on a rise ever since he started with it, his personal life was tumultuous. His marriage with first wife Robin Givens headed for a divorce and after firing his long-term trainer Kevin Rooney, Tyson's skills bit by bit deteriorated and he became more prone to looking for the one-punch knockout, rather than utilizing the ferocious combinations that brought him to fame.

He lost direction in 1990 and his personal life and career suffered heavily.

This is not the first time Tyson has landed himself in hot soup. In 1992, Tyson went on trial in Indiana after being arrested there in 1991 for the rape of Miss Black Rhode Island, Desiree Washington, in an Indianapolis hotel room. Tyson was convicted on the charge of rape on February 10, 1992, and served three years in jail.

In February 1999, Tyson was arrested and sentenced to a year’s imprisonment. He was also fined $5,000, and ordered to serve 2 years trial and execute 200 hours of society service for lashing out two people after a car accident on August 31, 1998.

Tyson was the youngest man to win a heavyweight title belt when he started his career and was rated in 1999 by ‘Ring magazine’ as the fourteenth greatest heavyweight of all time.

Nicknamed “Iron” Mike Tyson and “The baddest man on the planet”, he quitted boxing world on June 11, 2005. After quitting, Tyson has stayed in limelight by promoting and endorsing various websites and companies.

Poor Mike

The past few years have been an embbarassment for Mike Tyson. The 'World Tour' as it's been put is a joke and it's obvious that because of his debts that he has to continue the circus freakshow. And now he's back on blow so what's left of his reputation is pretty much gone. I hope Mike can find a way to make his life work because in his current state he's going to die within 3 years.

Hoodlum

Seriously ....HE IS A HOODLUM. I sometimes wonder why people spoil their lives by getting addicted to drugs. When the consequences are known, then why do they act stupid?

Iron Mike & the UFC

We have been to alot of fights held by the UFC, and many times there ran across Mike Tyson. He was there as a second hand joke to liven up the audience, great usage by Dana White and Zuffa. This washed up has been , has been spent, he thought about some cage fighting and realized he was not man enough. See he has had cage fighting already in the pen where he once bit off an ear in the ring, he could completely tounge an ear in there. he lacks the ability to understand his blessing and calling, he should find a little spirituality and go harmonize where he came from not contribute to it's drug sales ! In my book the Guy is and always be a First Class loser !

Mike Tyson

It's difficult to thoroughly comment on that loser!..The only thing that comes to mind is "ONCE A THUG, ALWAYS A THUG".

Not very profound, but then neither is he.
