At last Lenovo’s latest technology offerings are here. It has launched its new notebooks in two versions, the Lenovo 3000 Y300 and the Lenovo 3000 Y500, targeted at the Indian market. Both these technology offerings are for the home consumer as well as the SOHO segment. Both these notebook versions use the much-touted biometric face recognition technology, a security measure that enables multiple users to utilize the notebooks seamlessly.

Both these notebook versions use the much-touted biometric face recognition technology, a security measure that enables multiple users to utilize the notebooks seamlessly. For hardware enthusiasts, the two notebook versions offer a mouth-watering range of features. As mentioned earlier, both have the face-recognition technology, which is supported by Veriface software. Basically, it is the stuff sci-fi is made of. The software takes a digital picture of the user’s face, extracts key features from it and makes out of it a digital map, which it then uses as a password. Unauthorized access attempts are also bookmarked into the system for later verification. Besides the high-end sci-fi, the notebooks also have features that make it a multimedia user’s delight, including a Dolby Home Theater, a TV Tuner card, a slot-in Optical Disk Drive (ODD), and a Shuttle Center. According to Ajay Mittal, Vice President, Brand and Marketing, Lenovo India, the notebooks were an attempt to integrate modern day lifestyle elements with technology. The Y500 is priced at between Rs. 31,990 and Rs. 69,990. The Y300 is priced at a steady Rs. 61,990. Each of these has certain common features and a few unique ones as well.
