Eminem’s Marriage Goes Out of Tuneby Suresh Ganesan - December 21, 2006 - 0 comments
The 34-year old rapper Eminem breaks up with his 31-year old wife Kimberly Mathews for the second time. This broken couple met each other at a friend’s place when he was fifteen, and she was thirteen in 1989, and had been married twice, in 1999 and 2006. After a long courtship, they got married in 1999; however, the marriage lasted only for three years till 2001 due to misunderstandings. The first divorce suit was filed by Eminem just after 14 months of their marriage, which was answered by his wife for a share in his estate and $10m for his songs like Kim, which she claimed to have caused emotional problems. They communicated well only on the terms of their daughter, Hailie Jade’s custody. During their first marriage with each other, Kim tried to commit suicide by cutting her wrist after Eminem tried to kill a man who kissed her outside the Michigan bar. The second marriage between the couple took place five years later the first marriage in 2006 with both his daughters’ Hailie Jade, aged 10 and Whitney, aged 3 in the bridal party. Eminem's grandmother, Betty Kreslin commenting on Eminem's second marriage said, "He needs to think twice about marrying her again, or at least get a pre-nup this time around." Even this trial marriage did not last long with Judge Antonio P Viviano finalizing the second divorce on Tuesday. The irony was there was no hype created in the second divorce as it was during the first one. "I can confirm the divorce was finalised," said Dennis Dennehy, a spokesman for Eminem with Interscope, a unit of Universal Music Group that distributes his music. Eminem has given many hits. In "'97 Bonnie & Clyde" Eminem mentions about his daughter. The Slim Shady LP, 1999 has a one-sided dialogue with Hailie. Even the "Hailie's Song" of The Eminem Show, 2002, "Mockingbird" of‘‘Encore’’, 2004, and "When I'm Gone" of Curtain Call: The Hits, 2005, all these indicate his love and dedication to her. In addition, Hailie's voice is recorded in the track "My Dad's Gone Crazy" (The Eminem Show, 2002). With nine Grammy awards and one Academy award, Eminem had huge fan following, and was said to be interested in becoming a cartoonist even though he was devoted to music. |
