Pop concert to mark 10th death anniversary of Princess Diana

Princes William and Harry are getting prepared to make the 10th death Anniversary of Princess Diana, an extraordinary affair. They will remember their late mother’s birthday with a pop concert which is set to initiate a bidding rage among broadcasters for the U.K. and international television rights.

The Princes are apparently taking a hands-on role in organizing the eagerly anticipated pop concert to be held at the new Wembley Stadium in London next year and said they wanted it to be "the best birthday present" for her.

‘Concert for Diana’ is slated for July 1, 2007 which would have been Diana's 46th birthday. It will be followed by a memorial service on August 31, the tenth anniversary of her tragic death in a Paris tunnel crash. Prince William, the future King of England, joked, "If it works it'll be brilliant, if it doesn't, then we won't be in the country much longer."

According to William the church service alone would not be enough and thus the Royal brothers wanted to have this big concert full of energy, full of fun and happiness that their mother would have sought. "(Harry and I) both wanted to put our stamp on it. We want it to represent exactly what our mother would have wanted.” he said.

Added Prince Harry: "The (church) service is going to include both sides of the family, our mother's side and our father's side -- everyone getting together. It should be a good occasion."

The pop concert will feature some of the late princess' favorite acts, including Elton John, Duran Duran and Bryan Ferry. Also a medley of songs from Andrew Lloyd Webber, performances from the English National Ballet and Joss Stone, will be part of the grand event.

Eager fans leaped up on the tickets which were sold out within minutes and Internet auction site eBay has decided to not allow the re-sale of tickets to mark respect for the memory of late Princess Diana.

Proceeds from the concert will go to the charities Diana supported during her life and also to two of the princes' own charities, Centerpoint and Sentebale.
