After two years, Britney plans to quit marriage
American pop star Britney Spears filed for divorce against Kevin Federline, her husband of two years, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the basis for dissolving their marriage.
The divorce petition filed by the celebrity in the Los Angeles Superior Court comes barely two months after she gave birth to their second child.
Though the celebrity in her divorce petition waives her right to any kind of alimony from husband, Federline, she asks for both legal and physical custody of the two children, one-year old Sean Preston and two-month old Jayden James. She also asks for occasional visitation rights for Federline.
Fighting the case for the pop princess is the powerhouse celebrity divorce lawyer Laura Wasser, who has represented a number of celebs, including Angelina Jolie, Nick Lachey and Kiefer Sutherland.
The quitting-up news took to headlines soon after Spears, 24, made her surprise appearance on a late-night TV chat show, flaunting her post delivery revamped figure.
Clad in an enticing black dress with a sassy new blond hairdo, the ‘Toxic’ star gave no hint of her separation from Federline, during the chat show “Late Night With David Letterman”.
Meanwhile, rumors regarding the bumpy marriage have been in air since months, but the singer denies she was estranged from her husband. However, Spears acknowledged her husbands support during the ups and downs of her second pregnancy.
Announcing her engagement to dancer Kevin Federline in July 2004 just three months after they met at a club in Hollywood, the couple got married in the following September after a whirlwind romance.
The star duo married before twenty-seven guests in a surprise, non-denominational ceremony at a residence in Studio City, California.
While Spears shot to fame with her chart topping debut album “…Baby One More Time” in 1998 and sold more than 70 million copies to become one of the best-known celebrities in the world, her hubby, Kevin Federline, 28, professional dancer, model and rapper, is perhaps most noted for his marriage to Spears.
Federline previously dated actress Shar Jackson, with whom he has two children.
The dancer, pop singer recently lost her $10 million defamation lawsuit against Us Weekly magazine filed for fabricating a story about a sexually explicit video the pop star and her husband had shot together.
Currently the singer in working on her fifth studio album which is due for release in 2007.
