Britney's sex tape lawsuit dismissed
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge has dismissed a defamation lawsuit filed by American pop star Britney Spears against Us Weekly magazine, ruling that the hyper sexy image created by the pop star cannot be defamed by published rumors.
Spears had sued the Us Weekly publications for fabricating a story about a sexually explicit video the pop star and her husband, dancer Kevin Federline had shot together.
The celebrity couple had sought $10 million in damages from the publication group over the article ‘Brit & Kev: Secret Sex Tape? New parents have a new worry: racy footage from 2004’ featuring in the ‘HOT Stuff’ column in October 2005.
Against the milieu of past incidents where the pop icon french-kissed Madonna on national television, filmed her naked husband in the shower for television viewers to see and posed naked herself on several occasions, adjudicator found no basis for Spears claim.
“The plaintiff herself has put her modern sexuality squarely, and profitably, before the public eye”, concluded Hart Cole while dismissing the 24-year-old pop star's defamation case last week.
