After having recieved overwhelming response to iPod Nano Red from Music lovers world wide, Apple Computer Inc. on Friday unveiled a new 8GB version of its special edition iPod Nano Red.
The first model of the Red series was released in mid-October with 4GB capacity and was priced at $199. The new model of the iPod Nano (Product) RED Special Edition holds up to 2,000 songs and 25,000 photos, and is available for $249.
Both models come in red aluminum cases, Apple’s innovative Click Wheel and an incredibly thin and light design, and are empowered with 24 hours of battery life.
“Customer response to the iPod nano (PRODUCT) RED Special Edition has been off the charts,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s vice president of global iPod Product Marketing. “We’re thrilled to add a second model with 8GB of capacity, enough for 2,000 songs, so customers have yet another choice in supporting this important cause.”
Apple retails the RED nano series in support of U2 lead singer Bono's (RED) campaign to fight AIDS and contributes $10 from the sale of each iPod nano (PRODUCT) RED to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS in Africa. Parentheses embracing the ‘Red’ are used in the rendering of both the anti-AIDS campaign's and the iPod model's name.
(RED) was created by Bono and Bobby Shriver, Chairman of DATA to raise awareness and fund for The Global Fund by teaming up with the world's most iconic brands to produce (PRODUCT)RED branded products. Each company that becomes (RED) puts its logo in this embrace and is then elevated to the power of red. A percentage of each (PRODUCT)RED product sold is donated to The Global Fund. To date, the Global Fund has committed US$5.2 billion to more than 363 programs in 131 countries.
The new 8GB iPod nano (PRODUCT) RED is now available at Apple’s online Store and is scheduled to hit Apple retail outlets this weekend.
The second generation iPod nano, which features completely skip-free playback, also includes redesigned ear-bud headphones providing superior comfort, fit and sound quality, and a USB 2.0 cable.
Apple's iPod nano requires a Mac® with a USB 2.0 port and Mac OS® X version 10.3.9 or later and iTunes® 7.0.2 or later; or a Windows PC with a USB 2.0 port and Windows 2000 (Service Pack 4), Windows XP Home or Professional (Service Pack 2) and iTunes 7.0.2 or later. Adding to this, internet access is required and a broadband connection is recommended.
