British supermodel, actress, singer and author Naomi Campbell, arrested in London on suspicion of assault yesterday, was released on police bail in the wee hours of this morning.

Naomi was taken to a central London police station after a woman alleged she had been assaulted at an address in Westminster. The police informed that she has been ‘rebailed’ and will have to report back in December.

"A 36-year-old woman who was arrested and bailed yesterday in relation to an alleged assault returned to the Central London police station this morning under conditions of the bail and has been rebailed to a date in the future," a Metropolitan Police spokesman said.

After an unknown woman, reportedly her drugs counselor, alleged assault against Campbell, the police arrested the supermodel yesterday afternoon from her home in Westminster.

It was reported this morning that the woman had "scratches all over her face".

A spokesman for Campbell said last night that he believed there had been a "misunderstanding". He said: "We are sure it will all be sorted out when the police investigate."

Born in Streatham, South London, Campbell's first appearance to public was in February 1978 when she was casted as a pupil to appear in a music video with Jamaican reggae superstar Bob Marley for his song ‘Is This Love?’.

Her looks fetched her income and she switched to become a fulltime model, creating a high profile career and two spin-off companies: NC Connect and a self-named line of perfumes.

Starting at an early age as a ramp model, she was quickly picked up for various high-profile advertsing campaigns for Lee Jeans and Olympus Corporation, which brought her to the American market. The highpoint of her career was in the early 1990's, when she was part of the two major supermodeling powerhouses, the Big Six and the Trinity.

She has walked the ramp for many fashion designers, including Gianni Versace and Valentino and has appeared in music videos for artists such as Michael Jackson, Jay-Z, Macy Gray, Prince, Usher, Madonna, etc.

She has also tried her hand in singing and writing.

Campbell is no alien to committing crimes and has been accused of committing acts of violence and verbal abuse against some of her employees and associates.

In 2000, she pleaded guilty in a Toronto court to a 1998 assault on Georgina Galanis, her then assistant; Campbell had assaulted Galanis with a telephone in a hotel room and threatened to throw her out of a moving car.

In March 2005, the model was said to have slapped assistant Amanda Brack and beaten her around the head with a Blackberry handheld personal organizer. The star's spokesman Rob Shuter denied the incident ever took place. In July 2006, Brack began proceedings against Campbell, claiming the supermodel abused her verbally and physically. Brack accused Campbell of assault, battery, false imprisonment and infliction of emotional distress in incidents that started a month after she began working for her in February 2005.

Italian actress Yvonne Scio has claimed the model left her "covered in blood" after a spat at a Rome hotel. Yvonne claimed: "She punched me in the face. She was like Mike Tyson."

On 30 March, 2006, Campbell was arrested for allegedly assaulting her assistant with a jewel-encrusted cell phone, resulting in a bloody head that required stitches. She was charged with second-degree assault.

Lock that woman up for public safety!

This woman should be behind bars. (If she was a man she would be.) One of the first things you learn is "Don't hit." Is she stupid or just ridiculously indulged?
