Non attendance in court lands Brown in muddle
The bumpy road doesn’t seem to get smooth for Bobby Brown. With his marriage to Whitney Houston coming to an end, the R&B singer has been added with another layer of misery.
Skipping the court hearing for delinquent child-support payments to Kim Ward, the mother of two of his children, a family judge has ordered the singers arrest if he steps in the state of Massachusetts.
Phaedra Parks, Brown’s lawyer explained his absence to the judge, saying that the singer is going through a traumatic time after his wife ,Witney filed for a divorce. However, the judge snubbed away all the reasons, saying that this was no excuse for Brown’s non-attendance.
Kim Ward said that Brown owes two months support or $11,000.
Missing the court date is not new for Brown as he had faced similar issues in 2004 and spent 90 days in prison for missing three months of payment. That sentence was immediately suspended after Brown made back payments totaling about $15,000.
Brown, the American Grammy-winning R&B singer and dancer, began his career with the popular boy band ‘New Edition’ in 1980 and was later booted out from the group due to behavioral problems.
He ventured on a solo career in the late 1980s and had a string of Top 10 Billboard hits. Brown is star of his own reality show, ‘Being Bobby Brown’. After going through a bouncy wed-lock with singer Whitney Houston, the marriage finally came to an end after 14 years.
On September 13, 2006, Houston's publicist announced that Whitney had filed for divorce from Brown.
Brown’s life has been a roller coaster ride, wounding his public image due to his numerous arrests. In 1995, Brown was in prison after a scuffle in a Disney World nightclub. A few months later, he kicked a security guard in Los Angeles and was charged with assault.
Brown’s life has been a regular fodder for tabloids as the singer has checked in several times to a rehab to battle drug and alcohol problems. He has also been accused of spousal abuse and arrested for sexual assault in 1997 and 1998 respectively.
In 2003 he was charged with breaking the domestic violence law in the USA against his wife, Whitney Houston.
