Wedding bells for Anna and Howard

Seems like some glee has finally knocked the doors of former playboy model Anna Nicole. Having lost her son on September 10, 2006, wings of depression had darkened her life. However, happiness came when she and her longtime lawyer Howard Kevin Stern exchanged vows in a commitment ceremony in Bahamas.

It was reported that the two crept out of the house in the peak hours of midnight, boarded a boat to sail around the ocean and conducted a spiritual ceremony onboard.

Anna was blessed with a baby daughter Dannie Lynn on September 7, 2006 at Doctors Hospital in Nassau, Bahamas. Entertainment photojournalist Larry Birkhead claimed to be the father. However, on September 26, 2006, Stern claimed in an interview with Larry King, on CNN's ‘Larry King Live’, that he sired the baby.

In the interview, Stern said that he had loved Anna for a long time and intends to marry her soon. Birkhead maintained his strife that he is the baby's father and said he had proof. However, on September 28, 2006, it was reported that Anna and Howard tied the knot.

The felicitous event came just 18 days after Anna’s son Daniel died from a lethal combination of three drugs: Zoloft, Lexapro, and methadone.

Anna’s family pathologist explained that methadone is used in the treatment of heroin and morphine addiction, but had no information to conclude that Daniel was using it for that reason.

"During the sail, Anna Nicole Smith and Howard K. Stern made a commitment before God to be there for one another, to be each other's strength during this difficult time," according to a press release from Anna’s publicist.

Michael Scott, Anna’s lawyer confirmed the news about the two taking marital vows before God. He also put light on the fact that they did not have the necessary legal paperwork and hence the marriage won’t bind the two legally.

He said that although the marriage took place, yet no marriage certificate was issued. Scott added, "It was not a formal, legal arrangement."

Anna’s mother Virgie Arthur maintains her point that the father of the baby is Louisville native Larry Birkhead and does not believe Stern.

"I don't know, I kind of believe him; I would like to," she says. "I would like for him to do the paternity test to see. I would like to see whose baby it is.", said Arthur.

She still doubts Stern being Dannie Lynn biological father and said he needs to prove it by undergoing the paternity test.

Anna has been previously married to Billy Smith in 1985 and oil billionaire J. Howard Marshall in 1994.
