N95- the new launch by Nokiaby Samia Sehgal - September 26, 2006 - 0 comments
Nokia, the world’s largest cell phone-maker, unveiled its latest N-series cell-phone, Nokia N95 which the company calls a ‘mobile multimedia computer’. In a bid to stay ahead of competitors, Nokia has included its fastest data connection in the hand-set with a satellite navigation system. Anssi Vanjoki, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Multimedia in Nokia seemed all excited about this launch as he introduced the slider phone with WLAN, High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA )3.5 G, Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) technology, Bluetooth, USB and WiFi. N95 boasts of a five Mpixel camera with Carl Zeiss lens, that can do 30 FPS video. It has a 2.6-inch TFT screen QVGA resolution or 320x240. It also has GPS and an access to maps of more than 100 countries. "This single device - which fits easily in your pocket - can replace stand-alone devices that you no longer need, whether it's your music player, your digital camera, PDA or navigation device," said Vanjoki. Such features being added by Nokia not only pose a threat to its rival cell-phone companies but also to the makers of digital cameras, personal data assistants and portable music players. Motorola’s unit sales have outpaced that of Nokia for five straight quarters and with this endeavor Nokia seems set to take the market share from its rivals. “Nokia believes it will not only continue to take share from the single technology companies but from PDA and even laptop manufacturers too,'' the Espoo, Finland-based company said in the release There is still a long time to go before consumers can actually lay their hands on the new N-gadget, as Nokia N95 is said to be in the shops in Q1 2007. N95 will come with a price tag of $698. |
