" title="Sony Ericsson P990i"/> Sony Ericsson P990i is the P-series smart phone from Sony Ericsson, a capable handset, with many major improvements over P900 and P910. It takes effective conversations to new heights. It is one of the few WiFi capable phones with 802.11b Wireless Ethernet (WiFi) support. This is a 3G UMTS device in addition to tri-band GSM and GPRS. It boasts of an Opera 8.0 web browser with landscape full screen support. With P990i one can view and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents while the Adobe viewer can be used with PDF files. With the P990 you can never be unaware of the latest happenings. The RSS reader gets up-to-the-minute news straight to your cell phone. The touch screen has 262,000 colors and the screen resolution is 240x320 pixel. Certain applications such as the web browser and camera functions can use the P990's screen in landscape (wide) view. Sony Ericsson P990 has a 2 megapixel digital camera with video, so you can take pictures to be proud of. Although the phone does not have a huge internal memory to store all those proudly clicked pictures, 80MB of internal memory is expandable through Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo cards. P990 has the Symbian OS 9.1 plus the UIQ 3.0 user interface to make it a powerful and effective business tool. It also provides an access to music and entertainment, around the clock with a Music player and FM RDS radio. Bluetooth and Infrared have both been added. On the P990, the small alphabetic keyboard is fixed to the phone and is revealed by flipping down the number pad. Like its predecessors, the P990i features the familiar Jog Dial to scroll around the menu items. With measurements of 114x57x25mm the device is quite large and weighs 155gms. It comes with an equally heavy price tag of around $700 but the phone definitely shows a great amount of promise. |
