Market opens in green
Mumbai -- The markets opened with positive bias in the morning. In the early morning session today, the Sensex was up 48 points at 12058 and the Nifty was at 3496.
The major gainers on the indices were Reliance Comm, Gujarat Ambuja, L&T, Tata Steel, Bajaj Auto, Suzlon Energy, Wipro and TCS.
Asian markets have spurred higher. Taiwan's Taiwan Weighted surged 2.67% or 178.44 points, South Korea's Seoul Composite was up 1.11% or 15.11 points, Singapore's Straits Times gained 0.66% or 16.74 points and Hong Kong's Hang Seng added 0.62% or 106.56 points.
In the later morning session, the markets have further strengthened and moved upwards led by heavy buying interest in scrips across sectors. At 11:00 am, the Sensex was trading at 12098 up 88 points and the Nifty was trading at 3501 up 22 points.
Suzlon Energy at Rs 1,213.90 up 4.25%, Zee at Rs 327.25 up 2.36%, Dr Reddys Labs at Rs 761.00 up 2.04% are the Top gainers on the Nifty, followed by Cipla, L&T, PNB, IPCL and ITC.
On contary, Tata Power at Rs. 522.10 down 0.93%, SAIL at Rs. 73.10 down 0.88%, NALCO at Rs. 201.70 down 0.52% followed by Hindalco, are the major losers on the Nifty.
Grasim Industries and ICICI Bank are the only two stocks among the BSE 30 scrips to trade in the negative territory. They lost 0.4 per cent and 0.1 per cent respectively.
Fresh buying is witnessed in FMCG stocks. Britannia Industries, Nestle India and ITC Limited firmed up over a per cent each. HLL, Tata Tea and Colgate-Palmolive are trading with smart gains.
Similarly, Cement stocks continue on their journey north. Birla Corp is the major gainer that moved up 3.8 per cent in early deals.
