Market opens in red
Mumbai-- Market opened in negative territory due to weak global cues. Index heavy weights like Reliance Industries, HLL, Grasim, HDFC Bank , ICICI Bank, Tisco and Infosys. In the morning trade session, the BSE 30-share Sensex lost by 67 points at 11865 and NSE 50-share Nifty is down by 20 points to 3458. HDFC Bank, Hero Honda, Sun Pharma, Wipro, VSNL, Cipla, Glaxo and ICICI Bank are the major losers among the 50-scrips of Nifty.
Asian markets have taken a severe beating this morning. The Nikkei in Tokyo was down 273 points at 16,010 while the Hang Seng in Hong Kong dived 174 points at 17,084. The Kospi in Seoul fell 12 points at 1344 while the Taiex in Taiwan lost 33 points at 6655 and the Straits Times in Singapore declined 22 points at 2504.
There was slip in Grasim Industries as it lost by 0.3% to Rs 2300. The company has bought Harish Cement in Himachal Pradesh. The scrip has touched a high of Rs 2301 and a low of Rs 2281 and has recorded volumes of over 7, 000 shares on NSE.
Infosys is down by 0.6% to Rs 1824 despite the company announced expansion of its near-shore capability at Brno in Czech Republic. The scrip has touched a high of Rs1827 and a low of Rs 1812 and has recorded volumes of over 1, 00, 000 shares on NSE.
KLG Systel Ltd has lost by 1.6% to Rs 185. The company & Strohl Systems have announced partnership to bring business continuity planning software and services to India. The scrip has touched a high of Rs 187 and a low of Rs 184 and has recorded volumes of over 4, 000 shares on NSE.
