The surmisals that Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes were never blessed with a baby girl, finally resolved on Tuesday when baby Suri, born four months ago, was unveiled.

The lack of proof and photographs of Suri, prompted these guesses, but reports on the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric, brought an end to the unresolved questions about the existence of Suri, who has now appeared with her parents on the cover of Vanity Fair, which will hit newsstands today.

On October 6, 2005, Holmes and Cruise announced that they were expecting a child and days later took a walk in a Los Angeles park to show to the world Holmes's very visible pregnancy.

On April 18, 2006, Holmes gave birth at St. John's Medical Center in Santa Monica, California, to a daughter, Suri, but Tom declined any other comment or details, saying the couple wished no comments to be made beyond those in the release. He declined to give the time or place of birth or the rest of Suri's name.

Family friend Penelope Cruz was one of the selected few who had got a chance to meet baby Suri. At the time the birth, Cruz had declared that the baby was ‘beautiful’.

Those in the know how also revealed that Suri looks like her father.

Until September 2006, there was not any appearance of the child in public; however, she appeared on a cover and photo shoot of Vanity Fair with her parents on 6 September, 2006. The cover and a picture from that shoot were shown for the first time on CBS Evening News with Katie Couric on September 5, 2006.

Suri, meaning 'princess' in Hebrew and 'red rose’ in Persian was hidden from public view for quite some time. But this is not strange as Tom Cruise’s and Nichole Kidman’s adopted children weren't photographed until 1996, when son Conor Anthony was a year old and daughter Isabella Jane was 3.
