FMCG, Metal and Power stocks boost the market
Mumbai -- The market stays firm after registering positive note in the opening today.
FMCG stocks are trading with smart gains. Archies has surged by 6% to Rs. 143, ITC has rallied by 1.8% to Rs. 191, Tata Tea has gained by 1.55 to Rs. 809 and HLL is up by 0.6% to Rs. 244.
Similarly, power stocks are moving further with marginal gains. Tata power has added 1% to Rs. 543, Suzlon has spurred higher by 0.6% to Rs. 1245 and CESC has surged by 0.9% to Rs. 317.
The firm international metal price pushed the metal stocks higher. Tisco has surged by 1.3% to Rs. 520, Hindalco has spurred by 1.85 to Rs. 182, National Aluminum is up by 2.7% to Rs. 211 and SAIL has gained by 1.3% to Rs. 74.
A plan for the consideration of a bid helped Corporation Bank to advance further by 1.8% to Rs. 323. The Board of directors of the company announced that they would consider a bid for United Western Bank. The scrip has touched an intra-day high of Rs. 323 and a low of Rs. 318 and has recorded volumes of over 20, 000 shares on NSE.
Ramsarup Industries, which manufactures steel wire, catering mainly to telecommunication, electricity, railways, automobile, defence and construction sectors, has surged by 2% to Rs. 107 after the company plans total capacity expansion of Rs. 7.75bn by 2010. The scrip has touched an intra-day high of Rs. 108 and a low of Rs. 106 and has recorded volumes of over 30, 000 shares on BSE.
Jagran Prakashan, which publishes Dainik Jagran, a Hindi newspaper is the country’s largest circulated daily with a readership of about 19.2 million readers per day, has spurred by 1.3% to Rs. 302 after the company launched Amritsar edition. The scrip has touched an intra-day high of Rs. 304 and a low of Rs. 298 and has recorded volumes of over 7, 000 shares on BSE.
Maruti Udyog Ltd. has surged higher by 0.5% to Rs. 898 after the company declared that they would aim to sell one million vehicles in 2010. The scrip has touched an intra-day high of Rs. 899 and a low of Rs. 892 and has recorded volumes of over 81, 000 shares on NSE.
