The fastest, the latest and the most power packed technology, the Intel Centrino Duo will now become the heart and brain of laptops around the world. The leading mobile PC’s manufactures like Dell, Toshiba, Gateway, Samsung and Alienwar in their respective announcements declared that their laptops will incorporate the new Intel Core 2 Duo processor before this year end.

The Intel’s Core 2 Duo processor formerly named ‘Merom’ has acquired widespread publicity and acceptance since its launch a year ago. Intel mobility senior vice president David Perlmutter said, “In just one year we’ve taken extraordinary leaps in mobile and desktop computing with the launch of the Intel Core 2 Duo processor.” Built with Intel's 65-nanometer manufacturing technology, the Core 2 Duo processor has 291 million transistors packed into an area smaller than the nail of the little finger. Intel Core 2 Duo processor has the potential to handle multiple tasks simultaneously thereby consuming less time, less power and supporting a longer battery life. These upgrading from the previous versions allows the system to keep cool and prevent it from getting too hot. The processor offers a blazing speed, almost double than the previous verions and thus bestows a whole new experience for the laptop users. When integrated into Intel Centrino Duo-based systems, the Intel Core 2 Duo processor has the capacity to improve viewing and playing back high-definition video. Powered with a larger L2 cache and 64-bit mobile processor it allows conversion of songs into a digital format at top speed. Also, one can run the latest virus protection updates within no time. With the news pouring in on Monday, top PC makers also announced the make over of their laptops. Samsung, Alienware, Dell, HP were a few companies which revealed plans of rolling out new models. According to the company officials, the mobile version of the Intel Core 2 Duo processors in 1000 unit quantities will be priced at $637, $423, $294, $241 and $209 for models T7600, T7400, T7200, T5600 and T5500 respectively. Intel has lived up to its reputation of providing high quality, high speed processors. The Intel Core 2 Duo processor has made its mark in the tough processors market. |
