In order to fetch additional revenue, YouTube, the popular video-sharing site, will shortly start selling video advertisements, which will be seen on its homepage and pages generated by its advertisement customers. The move will also charm the way customers purchase ad space and the formats they select to advertise.

Records, a division of Time Warner, which will be YouTube’s first advertising customer. The music video, which is scheduled to be released today, will be well promoted by the Warner Bros in the first advertiser page. YouTube said that its main aim for this idea is to make advertisers and customers embrace the new advertising platform created by them. According to the San Mateo, Calif.-based YouTube, videos on their sites are watched scads of times. It said that the earlier concept of selling ads in display and text formats will now be replaced as they want to embark on a new path of selling ads in a different way. By selling ads in different ways and introducing new ad formats, it wants to become the middle man for advertisers and sites looking to sell ad space, similar to how Google brokers ads for sites. YouTube chief executive officer, Chad Hurley, said that their vision is to attract brand advertisers and make them join their community. YouTube is focusing to orbit around these customers. In order to get ads placed on most seeable spots, YouTube has asked its ad customers to pay more for this advantage, though those customers won’t pay based on how many YouTube users actually click their link. YouTubes interest in this regard was initiated after biggies like MySpace collaborated with Google and made huge profits. Now the media giants are trying to stick a deal with YouTube for a possible purchase. |
