Craig will be seen in the lead role, playing Lord Asriel, alongside two female co-stars, Nicole Kidman and newcomer Dakota Blue Richards in New Line's big budget fantasy epic ‘The Golden Compass’. Kidman will be seen portraying the role of glamorous and aspirational Mrs Coulter. Dakota Blue Richards will play the character of Lyra Belacqua, who is a 12 year old school girl. The film, directed by Chris Weitz has a budget of £83m. New Line, with the ‘Lord Of The Ring’ fame will be making this movie and the filming is scheduled on September 4. Lord Asriel, who is a remorseless and adventurous man, appears in all the three books of Philip Pullman. He is the uncle of Lyra Belacqua, who will be seen traveling miles far just to save her best friend. Along the way, she comes across shape-shifting creatures, witches and a variety of other-worldly characters in parallel universes. For the character of Lyra, thousands were auditioned earlier this year. However, luck favoured Dakota Blue Richards and she landed herself in the film with such great co-stars. The trilogy written by Pullman comprises of The Northern Lights, The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass. The movie is the adaptation of The Northern Lights. As far as forthcoming films are concerned, Craig will be seen in James Bond film ‘Casino Royale’ with French actress Eva Green. He will be seen again with Nicole Kidman in the remake of the movie 'Body Snatchers', titled as ‘The Visiting’. |
