Logitech unveils Audio Station for iPod
As a part of its new Audio Station lineup Logitech has introduced two new speaker systems that could give the Apple iPod Hi-Fi a run for its money. Both Audio Station speaker systems and Audio Station Express portable speaker systems feature built-in iPod cradles, and are geared to work with any Dock Connector iPod.
Although it doesn’t take things to the heights of Monitor Audio’s i-Deck, it has many interesting features to boast of. Featuring an integrated AM/FM radio tuner and two-way speakers with 1-inch dome tweeters and 4-inch long-throw woofers, the Audio Station is a full function stereo.
The Audio Station is fairly impressive with a built-in LCD that provides a clock and radio station info. With the sleep timer and alarm functions it can be used as an alarm clock as well. Touch sensitive backlit controls are provided on the unit itself and it charges your iPod while it plays.
The Audio Station can be connected to any audio source with a 3.5mm auxiliary input on the back of the speaker. Another impressive feature is the 16-button wireless remote that comes along and allows you to control tracks, change the alarm and turn on the 3-D stereo from that comfy arm-chair which is placed away.
All these features are compiled in a single box that measures 16 by 7.25 by 4.25 inches and weighs 8 pounds. Available in black and white it comes with a protective casing.
Speaking at the occasion, Jef Holove, vice president - product marketing, audio business, Logitech, said, “With the Audio Station, we are redefining the premium iPod speaker category. Nothing else delivers this level of full, balanced acoustic performance; cutting-edge design; and extras like digital AM/FM radio and touch-sensitive controls. It's a sophisticated and complete stereo system for any room in the house.”
The Audio Station and Audio Station Express Portable systems will be available in October for $299.99 and $129.99 respectively.
