Sony Ericsson launches the K618 handset

Sony Ericsson has announced another 3G phone, the K618, a slim-line lightweight "stick" design phone, which the company claims, offers the perfect mix of mobile phone, multimedia applications, and business solutions.

A high performance new 3G device, K618 is a slim, lightweight model in a candybar form that will deliver super fast video clips and music streaming and browsing the web or gaming.

For the business community, it is equipped with support for push email, which makes it easier for users to send messages directly to the phone without having to download them.

Jan Wareby, corporate executive vice president, and head of sales and marketing, Sony Ericsson, said, "The K618 is the ideal phone to bring the benefits of 3G-enabled mobile entertainment to a wide audience. It will have appeal with the business person on-the-move, who will appreciate the freedom and choice that the latest mobile technologies can offer. It's a great-looking, desirable phone that you'll want to keep close to hand."

The multi featured K618 is jam-packed with music player with support for MP3, AAC, AAC+, and eAAC+ files; a phone speaker; and full audio/video streaming among others.

Besides, it also includes a 176 x 220 pixels, TFT 1.9-inch 262k color display; 2.0 mega pixels camera with 2.5x digital zoom and Mobile Blogger, which enables users to post or blog images directly to blog sites; and separate video telephony camera plus high speed 3G connectivity for making video calls.

The newly launched device also comprises 256MB Memory Stick Micro (M2), into which users can store nearly 700 photos or 230 music tracks. Memory can be upgraded up to 1GB. Also, full-length music tracks or video clips can be sent wirelessly from the phone, and listened to on a compatible Bluetooth-enabled device such as the Stereo Bluetooth Headset HBH-DS970 and PCs, via its Bluetooth Streaming feature.

This K618 device will be launched in selected markets beginning third quarter of 2006. It will come in two colors; Vibrant Black and Bright White.
