The Heat is too much for The Pistons
Game 4 of the eastern Conference finals landed in the Heat’s kitty and now they seem to be all set to make to the championship final’s for the first time in the franchise’s history. The 89 – 78 score line was a very pleasing sight for the Miami team as well as their fans. This time the Heat may be looking to settle scores for the last year’s loss to the Piston’s.
The series last time was going in the Heat’s favor with the Miami team riding a high with a series lead of 3-2 but the Piston’s charged up from behind and took the series through all the seven games and then advanced to the finals. The Heat must not have forgotten that loss and to avenge that loss must be the top most thing in the team’s mind. What might pump them up even more might be Pat Riley’s motivational talk in the dressing room. He can do it like no one else and there are enough people in America to back that fact.
Riley seems to be delivering just the right results for the team and that is the only reason why he was asked to take charge of the team. After all he has 16 divisional titles, eight conference titles and four NBA championships to flaunt in his 20 year coaching career. His impact is not just concentrated on basketball where he does wonders when his players jump onto the court, he has helped many business establishments with his motivational speeches and also has two books to his name which have topped the charts in the New York Times bestseller list.
Much said about the person behind the scene for the Heat’s amazing run this time in the Eastern Conference finals. Talking about the game, well the Piston’s stepped onto the court with a plan in mind, a master plan what they might have called it. The plan was to keep Wade away from the ball, and they succeeded in it to quite an extent, enough that the great Wade went 22 minutes 9 seconds without attempting a shot. Maurice Evans, Richard Hamilton, Chauncey Billups, Tayshaun Prince and Lindsey Hunter were all assigned the charge to stop the Heat’s guard to lay his hands on the ball. But after that long lay off which started in the second quarter, Wade had had enough and within one minute of the fourth quarter, with a pass from Payton he sunk in two points for his team. Wade ended the day with 31 points.
The Heat were slightly shaky during the game. They squandered a 14 point lead and allowed the Piston’s to go on rampage with a 29 – 11 streak which spanned the second and third quarters, when Wade was been forcibly kept silent. The fourth quarter was his time to break into the Piston’s defense he sunk in 12 points for his team during that period.
With game 5 slated for Wednesday in Auburn Hills. It will be a test of nerve for both the teams. With the Heat going all out to secure that place in the finals as soon as possible and avenge last year’s loss. The Heat have four members from last year when their team went down to the Piston’s, Wade, Shaquille O'Neal, Udonis Haslem, and Alonzo Mourning. They will be motivated enough to settle scores on the court. The Piston’s however have a record when they have turned around series where they have been down 2-1 or even 3-2. The Detroit team need to be working over time for the next three games if they want to go into another Championship finals.
Who will have the last laugh ? Will it be Riley’s super motivated boys ? Or the Piston’s will manage to turn around the lead which the Heat are enjoying at the moment.
