Madan Lal Khurana suspended from BJPby Bunty - March 22, 2006 - 0 comments
Former Union Minister and Delhi BJP strongman Madan Lal Khurana was suspended on Sunday, 19 March from the primary membership of the party for anti-party utterances over the last couple of weeks after he accused the party leadership of 'insulting' him and working against him. The action follows the Khurana's announcement that he would attend expelled party leader Uma Bharati's 'Janadesh Rally' rally in New Delhi on March 21. "BJP President Rajnath Singh has decided to suspend Khurana from the primary membership of the party taking into account his statements and utterances over the last few days," said party vice president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, who signed the suspension order letter of Khurana which has been dispatched to Khurana's house by hand. No time has been given to Khurana to explain his conduct. However, Khurana remained defiant in spite of the suspension. 'I have come to know that they have taken this action against me, I will not comment about it today but will state my stand Monday,' said Khurana. Khurana, a member of the party's national executive who is apparently angry at not being nominated by BJP to Rajya Sabha polls had again lambasted Advani and Delhi BJP president Harsh Vardhan three days ago for not heeding to the plight of the Delhiites and taking no action. Khurana had been suspended in September last year for six years after he made a vituperative attack against then party president L K Advani and supported the anti-Narendra Modi dissidents in Gujarat. Though, then he was later reinducted into the party at the behest of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. However, Sources close to Khurana said unlike last time, Khurana would not be returning to the party-fold and would chart his course possibly in alliance with like Bharti. Many of his supporters feel that the senior party leaders who have time and again misled him and let him down on important occasions have forced Mr. Khurana into this situation. |
