Hackers Create Rumor as Jacko Waits for the Verdict

Emails on the spread claiming Michael Jackson has attempted a suicide is a Trojan virus which is targeted to infect your computer once you click on the link mentioned in the mail.

A British online security company, Sophos has said that it has identified hundreds of the spam messages that exploit public attention focused on Jackson, currently on trial on child molestation charges.

"If you click on the link, the Web site displays a message saying it is too busy, which may not surprise people who think it might contain genuine breaking news about Michael Jackson," said Carole Theriault, security consultant at the British computer firm Sophos. "However, this is a diversionary tactic - because behind the scenes the Web site is downloading virus code to your computer.

The email contains the message "Last night, while in his Neverland Ranch, Michael Jackson has made a suicidal attempt. They suggest this attempt follows the last claim was made against the king of pop. 46 years old Michael has left pre-suicid note which describes and interpretes some of his sins. Read more...", and has the subject "Re: Suicidal attempt".

Meanwhile, the jury in Michael Jackson case is wrapping up an entire week of deliberations without a verdict. There are thousands of journalists, scores of Michael Jackson supporters and a handful of anti-Jackson protestors gathered outside the court.

Jackson, who has made several trips to emergency rooms during the trial, went to a hospital again Wednesday for treatment of back problems, according to his spokeswoman, Raymone K. Bain.
