Woman uses pepper spray to grab Black Friday deals

Black Friday got off to a spicy start!

A woman unleashed pepper spray on shoppers at a Walmart in Los Angeles to get her hands on Black Friday deals.

The incident happened just after 10 p.m. Thursday night as the store's Black Friday sale began.

According to witnesses quoted by Los Angeles Times, shoppers went into a frenzy when the sale was about to open and started tearing up the plastic wrap encasing gaming consoles. The wrapping was supposed to be opened at 10 p.m.

“People started screaming, pulling and pushing each other, and then the whole area filled up with pepper spray,” Alejandra Seminario told the newspaper.

Authorities said 20 people, including children, were hurt from the spray. All injuries were minor -- mostly eye and skin irritation and sore throats.

“This was customer-versus-customer 'shopping rage,'” Los Angeles Police Lieutenant Abel Parga told Los Angeles Times.

The woman was able to get away after the incident. It is not known whether she was able to get the deals she wanted.

Police are still searching for her.
