NBA: Portland 86, Denver 83
Portland, Ore. -- LaMarcus Aldridge had 24 points and 10 rebounds Thursday and the Portland Trail Blazers held on in the closing seconds for an 86-83 win over Denver.
The Blazers led 86-80 but the Nuggets closed the gap when Nene was fouled on a layup and made the free throw. The Nuggets had a chance to tie it in the closing seconds but failed to score.
Wesley Matthews finished with 20 points and 10 rebounds and Andre Miller had 16 points and six assists for Portland, which also got 14 points and six rebounds from Nicolas Batum.
Carmelo Anthony had 18 points and eight rebounds and Al Harrington scored 17 for the Nuggets, who lost their fourth straight road contest. Arron Afflalo finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds for Denver.
