Rep: Douglas focused on his recovery

New York -- Michael Douglas' publicist says the Hollywood actor's health issues are not as dire as some media reports have suggested.

The 66-year-old "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" star recently finished eight weeks of radiation and chemotherapy to treat his throat cancer.

His longtime publicist and friend Allen Burry told People magazine reports claiming the actor is on his deathbed and that his father and stepmother are moving to New York to be by his side are untrue.

"Michael is totally focused on his recovery," Burry said.

"It's been very difficult," he added. "(But Douglas' doctors) are very pleased with how he responded to treatment. They think he's doing really well. He's doing as well as can be expected."
