Cairo museum opens its doors

Cairo-- Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak has officially re-opened Cairo's Museum of Islamic Art, marking the end of an eight year $10 million restoration project.

The museum will be opened to the public at the beginning of next month allowing visitors to view 25 galleries containing more than 2,500 artifacts, Middle East Online said Sunday.

The museum is considered to be the largest of its kind in the world the report said.
Exhibits include a gold-inlaid key to the Kaaba, the massive building that houses the black stone in the Grand Mosque in the holy city of Mecca, and the oldest Islamic dinar ever found, dating back to the year 697
Rare manuscripts of the Koran are also on display as well as Ottoman-era ceramics and ancient instruments used in the sciences of astronomy, chemistry and architecture.

The 1903 building in central Cairo was originally built to house and protect the country's rich heritage from looters of antiquities.

Saturday's opening of the museum came during the first week of the Muslim holy fasting month of Ramadan.

Egypt has its own history .I

Egypt has its own history .I don't know why he is exhibiting Mecca in his museum.

I think this poor country is taking money from Wahbi in order to cover Hanif believe to show Wahabi more in his own country.

Why Mecca is not exhibiting and create his own museum. Mecca knows Wahbi is not sect of Islam in order to cover wahbi sect Mecca is pouring money to shutdown Hanifi sect and exhibit Wahabi believe.

Many Muslim and belief of Ibrahim know that there were no key no lock to Qaba where Ibrahim make the house of God.
