Storm not part of bride's wedding plans

Pittsburgh -- A new bride said while she always wanted a little bit of snow for her wedding, she did not expect the Pittsburgh event to face a major snowstorm.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette said Sunday the wedding of Jen Mackin and Army Lt. Raymond Fisher went on as planned Saturday despite the snowstorm plaguing the region, but a number of guests failed to attend.

Mackin said her repeated prayers to God for snow on her wedding day were answered in a big way and the overabundance of snow kept nearly two-thirds of her 300 guests away.

"He answered my prayer, a little too much," she said.

The priest scheduled to marry the couple was not able to attend Saturday's ceremony due to being snowed in, but luckily another priest was able to step in and complete the ceremony.

Despite such problems, Mackin insisted she never really considered canceling her big day.

"This is fine," she told the Post-Gazette of the weather issues. "It's an exciting day ... no way I was going to cancel."
