Stars line up for 'We Are the World' re-do

Los Angeles-- Celine Dion, Jennifer Hudson and Kanye West were among those who headed to a Hollywood studio Monday to help record a remake the song "We Are the World."

Also gathered at the Jim Henson Studios were Julianne Hough, will.i.am, Wyclef Jean, T-Pain, Randy Jackson, Gladys Knight, Brandy, Keri Hilson, Faith Evans, Rob Thomas, Nancy Wilson, Nicole Scherzinger, Harry Connick Jr., Katharine McPhee, Robin Thicke, Josh Groban and India.arie, UsMagazine.com reported.

The original version of the song, which was written by Lionel Richie and the late Michael Jackson and produced by Quincy Jones, was recorded in 1985 and helped raise money for aid to Africa. It featured the vocal talents of some of the biggest stars of the day, including Richie, Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder, Billy Joel, Willie Nelson, Tina Turner, Diana Ross and Cyndi Lauper.

Jones has said the proceeds to the new edition of the song will go toward relief for victims of Haiti's Jan. 12 earthquake.
