Police: Laptop thief beaten by victims

Madison, Wis. -- Police in Wisconsin said a man who stole a laptop computer wound up calling officers when the victims tracked him down and beat him.

Madison police said Daniel Berg, 25, called 911 Thursday evening from his cell phone and reported he had been beaten for several hours by a group of men, The Capital Times in Madison reported Friday.

Investigators said they determined Berg had stolen a laptop from his attackers and they had tracked him down and brought him back to their home at Equinox apartments about 8 p.m. Thursday.

"The victim (Berg) had stolen a laptop computer from the suspects," Lt. Joey Skenandore wrote in an incident report. "The suspects located the victim on State Street and brought him back to their apartment, where they beat him for several hours."

Police arrested Tidane Ahmed, 21, and Diallo Ahmed, 22. They said officers are still searching for two other suspects.

Berg was arrested on a parole violation after his release from a Madison hospital.
