NHL: Philadelphia 2, New York Rangers 0

Philadelphia -- Ray Emery earned his second shutout of the season Thursday by making 24 saves and leading the Philadelphia Flyers to a 2-0 decision over the New York Rangers.

Emery is in his first season with the Flyers after spending five years with Ottawa. This was the 10th shutout of his career, half of them in the 2006-07 campaign.

James van Riemsdyk put a slapshot past Henrik Lundqvist late in the first period and Mike Richards scored on the power play with just 3 seconds remaining in the second.

Lundqvist stopped 25 shots in the loss.

The teams combined for 44 penalty minutes in the second period, thanks to three fights. New York's Sean Avery took part in two of them.
