Hasselhoff gets new A&E reality series

Los Angeles -- A&E says it has ordered 10 half-hour episodes of an untitled docu-series starring U.S. actor and television personality David Hasselhoff.

The acquisition of the show from FremantleMedia North America was announced Wednesday by Robert Sharenow, senior vice president of non-fiction and alternative programming at the A&E Network.

"David Hasselhoff is an international icon known for his many roles and talents," Sharenow said in a statement. "Now for the first time he's allowing our cameras to see another side of him -- as a single father raising two teenage girls -- and the day-to-day drama that accompanies the rest of his larger-than-life life."

Hasselhoff is best known for his work on TV's "Knight Rider," "Baywatch" and "America's Got Talent."

Slated to air this year, his latest series promises a behind-the-scenes look into his life as he focuses on multiple entertainment and business endeavors, including trying to help his teenage daughters break into the recording industry.

"It's the dream of every parent to be able to help their children succeed," Hasselhoff said. "I told the girls that I would help them open the door when they are ready, but they would have to walk through it on their own. This is their time and I am excited to be a part of it by partnering with A&E and FremantleMedia on this new series."
