The BBC said Meryl Streep, Aidan Quinn, Ciaran Hinds, Conleth Hill and Brian Kennedy were among the 50 or so guests at the fundraiser, which took place at a posh New York penthouse apartment.
The original Lyric Theatre, built in 1951, is where Neeson began his career and he has long been one of its patrons, the British broadcaster noted.
The outdated facility is being rebuilt on the same site. It is expected to cost $28 million and is scheduled to open this year, the BBC said.

Wow!that's a good news, and
Wow!that's a good news, and a lot of money to raise to build that theater. Maybe they should have campaigns to promote their goals, maybe a lot of people could extend their help as well.Anyway, did it ruffle your feathers when the huge bank got billions from the bank bailouts, and they raised their rates on you anyway? A lot of people did, and that's where a budding phenomenon called Move Your Money began. The idea is to get people to switch as much of their banking as possible to credit unions and community banks. Not only do they typically suffer less ill effects in recessions, their entire business model is based on customer services – heck, some credit unions even offer payday loans – and more funds go into community investments than into enormous corporate overhead.
