NHL: San Jose 2, St. Louis 1 (OT)

San Jose, Calif. -- Dany Heatley scored with 54 seconds remaining in overtime Wednesday, giving the San Jose Sharks a 2-1 victory over St. Louis.

The Sharks had an eight-game winning streak halted Monday and they trailed against the Blues as the game headed into its final minutes.

Patrick Marleau tied it on the power play, however, with 7:09 to play and Heatley won it with his 25th goal of the season. He put a wrist shot past Chris Mason, boosting San Jose to 61 points and tying the Sharks with Chicago for the most in the NHL.

Andy McDonald scored the St. Louis goal midway through the second period.

The Blues suffered their sixth straight loss, the last two coming after the dismissal of Coach Andy Murray. Davis Payne is serving as the team's interim head coach, having been promoted from his position as coach of Peoria of the American Hockey League.

Evgeni Nabokov made 28 saves for the victory.
